chattering engine noise?

sounds like a poxy tractor at the mo, its a weird chattering noise thought maybe it could be tappets

Tappets at a complete guess, change the oil

I went to Renault with mine...was very loud. Turned out the cam followers were fooked amongst other things (valve seals?)...they checked with Renault to see if it was worth repairing then rang me back....we`ll have to give you a new engine lol!

yeah on a fiesta lol,

well doesnt matter now, blew the engine up on friday night on the a3.
a conrod or piston decided it wanted to see the outside world and decided to punch a hole the size of my fist in the block, oil everywhere.

whatever the noise was i think it was the timing chain
