Can someone tell me a decent insurance company

  PB Clio 172
As above, I have had some really shocking quotes for some reason and I know that insurance won't be getting any cheaper but I was after a quote round about what I am paying now. Tried Elephant and Sky and their quotes were a massive joke and I laughed.

I am with Flux atm purely to cost, not a fan of the company I pay £750.

Elephant-£1995

sky wouldn't tell me theirs as he knew I would of laughed. Tried all the usuals and they all come out way above mine.

im on admiral and its costing £185 a month, got a quote from priviledge and 90 pound a month with 750 excess (bit of a joke), i rang up another company who claimed i could not get insured on a 182 at the age of 22 with 2 years no claims....then wanted to charge me 5000 a year......ive settled with admiral until i get my extra 1 year no claims, its all generally a bit joke!

Considering I'm with Sky at 24 with 4 YNC, modifications and 9 points I pay £1000~ so I can't see how yours is much more than that?

Greenlight- Having had the opportunity to process your application with the intention of providing a competitive Insurance option for you, we found from the detail entered by you upon the application that you currently fall outside of the acceptance criteria of our specialist vehicle schemes. After referral to Underwriters we identified the main reason that Greenlight have been unable to assist you directly on this occasion to be as follows:
We are unable to cover this model vehicle due to our claims experience

That's some quotes you are getting there!

Seem very high for your age / NCD.

Try the guys at Brentacre.

eurgh... I've got to ring around for a load of quotes this week. Not looking forward to it. My renewal from Flux was laughable, nearly £1900 22yo 3ncb. I get fisted because of my postcode. Nestled nicely between Liverpool and Manchester.

They are rediculous quotes. I sold the 197 over a year ago now but my last renewal on that was £750. Deatils were

7years NCB (reaches max at 5 though)

I'm in the same boat as you pal, 22, 3 years NCB. Who are you going to ring if you don't mind me asking? I can't think of anyone worth trying!?

Another satisfied customer with Ryan Havana here.

Sounds like a character off Grand Theft Auto!

I thought that sounded like a bit of a funky name too...

I need to set aside an afternoon to ring around all the usual suspects: Brentacre, Sky, Bell, Elephant, Admiral...
I'm not holding out much hope though.

However, when I had my Zetec-S two years ago, I got a renewal from flux for ~£1800. I rang Brentacre, saying I got a renewal of £1300, which they promptly beat. Went back to Flux and they dropped to £1250. Just shows how much you can get knocked off, so I think I'll have to try the same tactics again. Such a ball ache.

LOL! Good tactic tbh!

EUI (Admiral, Elephant and Bell) are my best atm.

22 yr old.
3 years NCB.
Clean licence, with 3 years on it.
Postcode category E.

Next year is looking like £1270 exhaust declared with Admiral.

Can't find anywhere willing to beat it tbh! Although I'm still yet to ring round the usual suspects.

LOL Ryan Havana must be booming.

Oh and Brentacre were the only option imo

I hate them but they are the cheapest.

like I said sky wouldnt even tell me what the quote was.....

Why is this a nightmare. I am 28 FFS

they are the cheapest for a reason bud, you take out cover.

they rely on people changing their cars or selling up, if you change your car they'll hit you with a big price hike.

if you sell your car and want to cancel (like me) they want a massive payment usually 80% of the policy value.

read the horror stories....

this guy ended up paying £1300 for 1 months insurance on a Peugeot 206, and no lube was even used!!!!!!!!!!!

I took out a policy 5 months ago for a land rover discovery. £540.00, awesome! 2 months later i come to cancel.... you can cancel sir but we need an additional £310.00 to cover costs. so basically it was £510.00 for the year or £400.00 for 2 months.

I pay Direct Line £692 for the 172. Interest free monthly payments for the first 12 months so I pay £55 a month. Im 22 with 2yrs NCB. I was getting prices in the region of £850-£1000 using Confused.com so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried Direct Line. Always have introductory offers aswell, 2 months free atm: http://tinyurl.com/3g89d8d

Like I said, your circumstances on paper are better than mine and mine is more than 50% cheaper than yours with the same company!

Did you give your forum name you get discount?

Or maybe they searched your user name.....

It wouldnt have made a difference he asked what I am paying with Flux atm and he said I am not even going to tell you what my price is or you will laugh. I cannot get anywhere near your quote.

@jonesyblue87- wish I could get insurance as cheap as you! :dapprove:

Problem is people don't even give me quotes, its only a 172 with an air filter, sportlines and aftermarket wheels......

  PB Clio 172
had no luck with them, the online thing gave me a quote of £2550 just now but for some reason the wrong car came up

I changed my car then Admiral said due to the info entered bla bla they cannot give me a quote..

Starting to wonder what little "detail" you haven't mentioned?

Catagory end-of-the-world postcode? Convictions? Points? Unemployed? History of being refused insurance? Demanding an excess of £0? Poor credit rating? Monumental mileage? Paying monthly?

Tried all the usual? Adding named drivers, trying a quote with no mods (for research not for insurance fraud), limited mileage, pay in full, higher excess, driveway parking (if you even own a drive - again not for fraud) etc
