You should to buy a new light fuse.Otherwise no solution of it.

Open the interior fuse box (passenger side next to the glove box) and pull the panel/cover off. You should see a picture of a light, it's that one I think. Should be a 20amp fuse. But that would also take the radio etc out so I can't see how that's your problem. Test the plug with a multimeter and report back!

I have got the same problem with my 172. both bulbs are still in good condition

I also have the fault of the rear number plate light not getting a circuit - coincidence, im not sure.

Im looking for a solution to both of these faults.
