boosted yellow mk1

welcome to my build thread for my clio 16v you join the build at ground zero i suppose, the bare shell ready for the acid dippers it did look a bit out of place next to alot of more expensive shells like e type jags seirra cosworths a few escorts etc when i dropped it off. but first a little bit of history behind the car and me. I first really got into renaults when i got an apprentiship at renault the first car i worked on was a clio williams i couldnt get over how good it looked.When i finally got a blue449 valver aged 18 it was on 145,000 miles but had tons of new bits including brakes gearbox rad and a reciept for a full engine rebuild totalling £1400 it really was a clean well looked after car didnt take much exuberant 18 year old driving to kill the gearbox tho luckily a whole acciedent damaged clio williams 3 came up for sale on ebay managed to get hold of it for just £600 i used everyhing from the williams to create a pretty convincing replica the only difference being the spoiler that no body ever picked up on i drove it like this for years enjoying it thoughly never let me down untill the day the gearbox went instead of just replacing or rebuilding i decided it was time to upgrade i spent lots of money getting a 225 engine to fit after alot of time and money but i wasnt happy with alot of things on it even tho it did run and drive reasonably well. The 225 engine eventually ended up in my 197 track car since then the mk1 has pretty much been in dry storage since then. But it has been sat too long and its time to revive it back to its former glory and beyond. So back to where we are now the car is at a very good freind of mine austen grimley i dont know how to tag him in but im sure hell find the thread once its back from the acid dippers there will be a update of body work and paint, witch is going to be bright as you like yellow a few smoothed off bits locks ariel and rear wiper ive got most of the engine bits and peices to put it back together pretty quick so hopefully progress will be quick anyway enjoy the pictures ill update as soon as the shell is back.thanks for reading

How the f**k you ever make a full car from that i’ll Never know haha! Had a valver and a Williams back in the day, awesome cars, plans sound good?

Def gona keep an eye on this thread, my williams at this same stage. But has been like this for few years. Maybe this is the thread to kick start me back into working on mine. Sounds good so far.good to see these cars getting back on the road!

I'm pretty sure I've lost or sold most of the parts over the years :(

The shells actually really good condition it's never had any rust work done to it only what's pictured above the tiny bit on the n/s inner wing and the little patches under the head lights all the places where they normally go like arches sills scuttle it's completely solid and unmolested I do think this is the best surviving shell
 
I am jealous of the fact you are going to have a mint Mk1! But kudos on spending the money to bring it back to life :)

Will look forward to updates!

It's going to be the mintest mk1 around really looking forward to getting it back from the dippers

I'm not shy of spending money that's for sure

Im based in northern ireland, so jealous you are getting your car dipped. We dont have any service like that over here. Blasting is all we can get done.

It's having my own concoction of random renault parts that should leave me with a pretty strong engine able to do 250 bhp +
Low mileage 172 ph1 bottom end
225 head gasket
Low mileage 197 head
172 cams
250 inlet
172 ph1 throttle body
225 injectors
250 fuel rail
