Anyone tell me what this noise is?

  Clio 182
Seems to do it when the car is warm and happens when the steering wheel is straight or slightly to the left? Only happens above 30ish. Really weird. Don't want to waste my time buying a power steering pump if it isn't that.

Best bit of advice I can offer is to get it looked at by a specialist if you get no answers on here.

Mine makes a funny noise too, but only at high speeds (100mph+). I believe mine is just wind noise getting in somewhere.

Where does it seem to be coming from, the engine? Mine was coming from the interior light above the windscreen and would change pitch when pushing into it.

Sounds like it is coming from the engine bay, and it doesn't sound or feel like wind coming in anywhere, it's much louder than what I'd imagine wind coming in to sound like. Thing is it doesn't ALWAYS happen, maybe 3 or 4 times a week out of 10 journeys for example. So I can guarantee knowing my luck the specialist would drive it around and it would be silent, then as I drive home and it starts again lol

Haha always the way isn't it.

When I first heard this noise in my car I thought it was coming from the engine too though and shat my pants. Was doing 110mph down the back straight at Bedford though so I had reason to be scared.

When it happens just check the interior light doesn't change the noise when you press it. Just helps to rule things out if you know for sure.

Happens at 4.44 in this video for example..

I thought the same when mine did it. Worth a check as it's free and only takes 5 min to do. Read this thread to see what to check.
