hi all had the 172 for bout 2 months now and its lovely. wen i drive the car its sounds great but wen i give it the beans at about 6k it makes a strange noise like a nock or a ratle any iideas or experice plz kinda woried!!!!!!!!!

from where? front, back, engine, exhaust does it increase with revs etc?

if its the front mine does the same and its the ecu cover really common on 172's

If its like a rattle...normally about 4K upwards it is a known issue with the standard Renault exhaust. The only way to eradicate it is to buy an aftermarket exhaust!

From what you're saying, it sounds like it could be the 4K rattle.

i've similar sounding symptoms - dephaser has been diagnosed.

in my case, it's a kind of shreek above about 5.5k; only at full throttle.

best bet is to take it to a respected specialist for a diagnosis

yes it might of gave it away but in another thred i posted the same thing but difrant title n no one replied so wonded if anyone knew bout this!

mine had it, was the baffle in the centre section and sounded more like a vibration from where the gear stick is.
Does it happen 100% all the time?
