Acoustic valve help please

  Black Gold 182FF
Hi guys & gals. I just removed the acoustic valve from the 182, and also removed the small pipe which linked it to the engine, opposite the throttle body. Should I have left this pipe connected?, or does it not make any difference?

I ask only because when I started the motor, I covered the little valve where the pipe was connected for a few seconds and it felt like it was sucking in air. Also when putting a finger over the valve for a few secs, the engine dies.

Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks

Block the hole up with a bit of pipe with a screw in the end or it will suck too much air into the plenum and probably idle high

Ive seen a little black nipple to cover it on some clio's but no idea where they come from...

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

What is this valve trying to suck in? Air?

With this pipe blocked, should the engine idle normally? As when I blocked it off briefly with my finger it felt like it wanted to cut out. Thanks again

Ooooh! a free ecotect valve... wouldn't have one at that price lol. Just a quick question- feel free to call me stupid if you feel like it... is the acoustic valve exclusive to 182's and the sportier versions? Or is it on every clio?

close at low revs to 'aid' swedish drive by noise regulations, opened at higher revs - effectively limiting the air intake (not to mention induction niose :) ) ph1 172 dont have it, later ones do but many have removed it (inc me) for marginal performance gains and to make it pleasing on the ears !

I could be wrong but ask for a renault kangoo diesel injector blanking plug(1.9 non turbo diesel if their being picky).

One on my kangoo split the day before i sold it and got one from my local motor factors for 50p. Its made of rubber and looks to be the same size and just pushed on.

Hope that helps.
