ABS light

just got my vlalver but without the handbook, what does it mean when the ads light flashes when ur starting up the car. after which it stays off.

im almost positive the abs isnt working, well doesnt as manges to get all 4 wheels locked and skidding down the road!

if someone could let me know what this mean, ie whats wrong, or if its just the case of it telling me the abs isnt working be much appreciated.

Also any opinions on y the abs isnt working would be usefull,

it flashes when you turn on the ignition and then goes off, or comes on when you turn on the ignition and then goes off?

is the road a sand road?

When you slam on brakes (emergency stop) do you feel a shudder in the brake pedal? if not then your abs is faulty

the abs deff isnt working as as u say there is no judder, was just wondering if the light coming on when i start up tells you specifically whats wrong or just that its not working.
