986 Boxster S

Had the car a full week now so thought I'd stick a couple of pics up and a bit of a review of the car and future plans.

It's done 90k, 2 owners, full Porsche and Specialist history, has only ever been to 2 garages!
It's very tidy all round, few stone chips on the front end but the rest is in great condition, wheels have some small bits of bubbling but will leave them until next year.
So far I've done 150 miles in it, averaged 22mpg and I've had a bit of fun with it so I'm happy with that. Even had some roof down action today.

Had 2 new P Zero's fitted on Wednesday so plenty of grip on the back end, feels very planted.
First mod was a new key fob, original ones have buttons that erode so was looking very messy and cheap, so a new pattern one from ebay, not to bad a match so I'm happy with that.

Future plans:

Booked in to the same specialist it's been looked after by for the last 4 years for a full checkup etc to make sure it's all in order.
Some silver vision bulbs.
Full machine polish and proper detail (in spring).
Wheel refurb.
Get my van back once the focus issue is sorted out and leave this as my toy.

As for when the Focus can go, it depends on the court process to be honest, sooner the better really!

Got a litte key fob badge through, so that completes the look for dropping my keys in the pub…!
Had some good roof down action over the weekend too which has made me fall in love a little bit more to be honest.

Rolled the others out the garage at the weekend so took a quick picture of my 'fleet', can't wait to get rid of the focus and get a van though, Porsche is a bit of a nightmare using for work, for opinions and squeezing in and out of it so much...

In other news got the log book through so will get my plate put on hopefully this week.
Still debating on whether to buy all the detailing kit again or just to pay someone and just keep on top of it myself...

I never drove a 987 as I knew I couldn't get a minter, so I went on condition and history over a dog!

£15k finds me an OK one. But starting to think whether I should shove the £5k extra into the mortgage as £15k sat on the road not moving for weeks is a bit of a waste tbh. I'd get just as much enjoyment out of the 986.

Find me a decent one for £11k and I'll be happy to buy it. But the two I've seen locally were really rough. I'm in no rush though, so will continue to hunt!

If I had the money for a good 987 it would be on my drive without a doubt, but in my circumstances this was the best outcome for me and I love it!
Although I never took a 987 out as I knew I'd never accept a 986 after it!

Had the car at my local specialist today for a good shake down and make sure I've not missed anything, and very happy!
They said its the best one they've seen for a long time, very good condition and none of the common problems associated with them so all in all pretty happy. A few minor things which it's booked in next week for:

Slight leak on the sump gasket, so oil + filter and this being resealed.
Coil packs are a bit cracked and worse for wear, so preventative maintenance there.
RARB inner bushes and some drop links a they're passed their best.

Other than that a clean bill of health!
