3rd year service and mot

Hi!
I have had my car from new and this year it needed its first MOT :-(
I took my car to Holden Renault in Norwich and they did me a 99 pound deal for both MOT and service on 26th March bearing in mind my warranty runs out the 31st of march. The only thing that needed doing was my rear wiper blade so i thought the job was done.
I havent used my car and it sat on my driveway until yesterday, when i went to move it, it was leaking oil!! So i called renault and they said bring it in BUT as it was extra work on top of there original plans it may take all day, anyway i kicked off and waited for it to be done.
2 and a bit hours later the reception lady comes over and says the problem is the sump plug but they cant buy the sump plug seperately so will cost near 250! At this point i kicked off and said it was fine before i brought my car for service, i refused to pay the amount when if it had been picked up at service it would have been changed under warranty.
They let me drive away and said that they will contact customer service to see if they'll pay for it!
My car is 3 yrs old, 1.2 8v and only done 16k! Surely the sump wont go that quick..
When i arrived home i was so annoyed i called east bilney renault garage and gave them my car details and asked to order just a sump plug, their response 'NO PROBLEM! they are 2 pounds inc vat'

Wtf are Holden playing at?

:dapprove:

Sound like you have a bit of an attitude problem to me, don't "kick off" just take it easy and explain the facts. It you put across some decent points they will turn red and just give in. Been there before similar situation with Renault in New Milton.

I've had the same problem when I had my car serviced at a local garage. Pissed oil on my gf's parents block pathing, they where not amused. The guy came out and sorted it though, then it leaked some more so I took it to his workshop and he did it properly on his ramp.

£250 because of a sump plug wtf?

The Renault dealer workshops round here are shocking.. Not on at all considering the amount they charge! Hope you get it sorted ;)

aaahh, I've had 'words' with Mr. Darren Flowers before, too ;)

^Something to do with the extra "talk" Toyo tyres produce IIRC.

I got a set of triple 8s on my 1.2 Corsa shes doing quarter miles in 12 seconds!

How dare u say ive got an attitude problem. If u havent got anything helpful to write then don't post anything.

In my experience it's best to avoid main agents like the plague.

I used to take my Scooby to Subaru to have all its services - after a year, I noticed the gear box was making a weird noise. Took it to a scooby specialist, they looked at it, found the gear box oil was completely empty and, most likely because of that, a bearing was wearing (making the noise) - which would cost me £500 to repair.

And to think I was paying Subaru almost double the amount for services!

If you want your car serviced properly, personally I'd recommend finding a *good*, recommended Renault specialist. Main dealers rarely do a thorough job of anything, and usually look to find ways to rip you off (as you're seeing).

To be fair he was only giving you advice, getting angry never gets you anywhere in these situations.

When Renault tried to charge me for faulty engine mounts on a car they'd put a 12 month M.O.T ticket on (I'd had the car a month). I didn't "kick off" just kept my cool and asked how it could have passed it's M.O.T with faulty mounts? They quickly came back and said they'd waver the charge.

If u were in my position with a man talking to you like a child then u'd get angry to. Before he came out with a price it was as if he checked the customer to see if it was a male or female then made the price up.
And guess wat im still waiting for them to contact me, n my car is STILL leaking on my driveway.

Lol. I have to deal with idiots and foul mouthed morons on a daily basis with the job I do, yesterday being a perfect example of that. So yeah I probably could have kept my cool in that situation.

I wasn't implying what happened in your situation was right, just that losing your temper is never going to end well.

I've just realise how much I miss having a girl who stands up for herself in my life lol

If they're talking to you like a kid and quite clearly taking the piss, then I don't see a problem in kicking a fuss. As long as you keep to facts and aren't rude. They were probably just expecting you to cough as you're a girl.

I think you should write to Renault UK even if the dealer sorts. Maybe try to get it in writing that they're saying the only option is £250 so you can send a copy to Renault UK and hopefully they'll get a bollocking and wont do it to anyone else.

Same.. i work in hotels!! I'm a duty manager and food n bev manager so deal with it too!!
Im just annoyed! n it seems like no one understands how im feeling!

I do understand how you feel, it's frustrating enough when your car has problems then you get some patronising idiot trying to screw you over.

Sounds like the thread has been stripped in the sump, to be honest i have spoken to people who kick off all the time, and to be honest it doesnt help anyone. The service advisor wont call customers service too quickly, because why would they want to help someone who gives them adbuse for something that might not have been their fault? By the sounds of things, there bung has not been put in correctly, they have corssed threaded it, and upon removal probably knackerd the thread.

I'm in your neck of the woods and that same garage have just wrecked my paintwork when they cleaned my 2 week old 182!!! Now it's going to have to go to a paintshop to be sorted out next week. GRRRRR!

They are blatantly talking rubbish, I've bought sump plugs from the Holden parts desk in Norwich before. Tp be honest I've never liked the vibe at that place though and wouldn't dream of letting them near my car for a service, have driven from Norwich to GDI for aux belt/oil service a couple of years ago and another minor/oil service about a year after that.

If I was in your position I would have the damage assessed by a good independant garage, this gives you something to go to Renault UK with. In terms of future servicing, I would give East Bilney Renault in Dereham a go I've heard good things about them.

My last names Holden, maybe im related? Anyhu, if we get any comebacks (and it does happen) we have to fix them foc. The reception usually over our backs tho, then we get an arsing lol. As said, sounds like stripped threads

i no what theyve done, the sump plug washer sometimes gets real stuck on the plug, some people use a flat blade screwdriver to remove it which can damage the plug, even with a new washer it will leak.
