Honestly, it's something thats never even crossed my mind to do.

For me suspension has only ever been clean when it's just been replaced.
Was under there anyway cleaning out all the s**t from over the years and gave it a wipe over with microfibre. Plus I found one of them leaking which would’ve been an mot fail

Just a very small update. Only took 5 mins to fit but a lot more space where the phone cradle thing went

Good little bit of tinkering there!
Which reminds me, today i found out that the LCI model doesnt have the chilled coke can holder under the armrest like the pre LCI version.
Right penny pinching from BMW, so more retrofits for me to do

To do list

Wheel refurb
New centre caps
Paint calipers
Detail engine/exterior
New stop/start button
Refurb steering wheel trim
New rear shocks

Still really enjoying it. First full tank returned 27mpg though. I was enjoying it a bit too much [emoji23]

A new set of side repeater lenses make a massive difference for what they cost

Cleaned it, took the front wheels off and gave the front suspension a look over. Have a slight knock somewhere but can’t find anything obvious. Calipers need a lick of paint. They’re much bigger and better looking than the 325 brakes. Also ordered everything for the rear shock replacement thanks to @terryc101

A £2.97 start stop button finally arrived. Always think the small details make a huge difference. Also bought a red one to try out but it’s not arrived yet. Took about 5 mins to change to the new one

Would quite like the interior like this (not the dildo gearstick).

But I’d go piano black with the red flashing and red start stop button. Impossible to find a piano black trim though so will have to paint.

Noooo, It's that hideous stripe thing the newer interiors for me. Just go piano black.

I reckon it looks quite good. It’s cheap enough to try and then remove if it looks naff

Instead of a strip, fit some "ambient" lighting that you can change the color, would give it a nice glow and match the more modern cars.

Got the parts through for the rear strut replacement.

Came out in literally minutes. Helped by the fact neither had any pressure left. When I pushed them down they didn’t return even a millimetre

Most awkward part is moving this s**t out the way

Small rubber mount was also replaced

You can see the condition of the old parts. Rusted, split and just generally shagged

Took it out a drive. It does feel a bit better, the near side is a definite improvement, it was much crashier before, now it’s supple

Pulled the tips off and cleaned them up. I have no idea how they can get so much shite on them. They came up ok, I’d quite like new tips but more similar to the performance exhaust tips

Don’t know why I do this to myself. Want to facelift the rear and bought a LCI bootlid and have been in contact with @gally to have the work done. The item arrived today (eBay). It’s heavily damaged. Both corners damaged, one very badly. There’s damage all over it even though it was described as ‘light scratches’.

The corner damage is obviously the courier but the other stuff can’t be due to where it is and how it was packaged

Hard to picture tbh but it needs a lot of work. Contacted the seller. Also tried to open it when the courier dropped it off but it was packaged with about 3 rolls of packaging tape and was very difficult to get in to

Should’ve just sourced one which I could have picked up! Let’s see how this goes with claiming against the seller/courier. I don’t have much hope. Cost £105

Sorry to hear about the Bootlid. Hopefully you get something sorted.

I’m just about to embark on getting the rear sturdy replaced as because as I like the low look of the rear fully expect something has worn out causing it to be so bad over bumps ? where did you get all the bits from?

The struts were from carparts4less £88 the pair
The lower mounts and dust covers were off eBay, around £35 for all those bits. I would recommend getting new screws for the lower mounts if you’re gonna replace them as they rust quite badly

It’s an easy diy too. Once you’ve worked out the first one the next takes minutes to get out and the new one in. Just take note of the order which the bits go together as I didn’t and it caused a bit of issue initially

Have you still got the original kidney grills? I’m tempted to give matte black a go on mine - the chrome front end really jars when I look back, but I worry it’s a slippery slope and I’ll be putting an ///M badge on next ?

Yeah still original. I think the chrome grills look good with the grey. On the Le Mans blue they can look a bit bling, think it’s the blue that sets it off
