Mine is the 2.25 (they do a 2.5 aswell iirc)

Is decatted and has an unsilenced centre. Doesn't drone on the motorway and is quite raspy. Love it

Ok, that's promising, I was keen to avoid a constant drone. Is it loud at low revs? I'd like something relatively subtle if I'm pootling about. Youtube can probably give me an idea I guess.

No not really loud at low revs, only when you play it gets loud. Saying that I have heard the car drive off and it sounds quite loud but in a good way. Certainly louder outside than inside the car.

A 2.5 system with the same decat and unsilenced centre would be both loud and drone I think. YouTube gives an okay idea on sound but getting feedback off here or elsewhere will give you a better idea imo

I saw that one befoere . The 7 owners would put me off , but that's just me . Not everbody is put off by alot of owners .

That's a good shout actually, I hadn't noticed that & share your preference for fewer owners. Thank you for posting that out.

Mines been popular, although I believe it was family owned. Aparantly.

But for me to keep a car 18 months is unheard of so it must be doing something right. There's a woman by me with an 04 arctic, standard even down to exhaust. She's had it since I've worked where I have for the past 11 years. Would take mine any day of the week.

Oh my first ever clio was an 04 arctic oddly enough. I had it four weeks.

Also had a mint flamer for three weeks
Had a megane trophy for two months ish

Pushing my budget, particularly as it requires travel on top....

It's phone only, which makes things a little more direct (much prefer an initial exchange via email/text etc, but there we are). Are there any questions that have been left unanswered given the detailed ad/description? Would feel a little odd just phoning & trying to haggle the price down, particularly as it was only listed today.

The ad looks pretty much spot on . Better than alot I've read . It sounds like somebody whos knows about Clios . Its hard to tell from the pic but the bodywork looks ok . One thing alot of Clios suffer is a big dent on the bonnet just above the Diamond . You need to drop the bonnets for them to shut properly , if you don't then people push down on the bonnet and put a big dent in them .
I'm only going off when I sold my 172 many moons ago . I wanted £5000 so priced it at £5200. He offered me £5000 , he was happy with knocking off £200 and I was happy I got my £5000. Anybody with any sense always prices them a few 100 £££'s above what they really want for the car .
It sounds like a cared for car . I'd just give him a ring and tell hime your budget is £2500. He can only say no . I just noticed 5+ owners . I don't know what 5+ means exactly . Is it 6 ,7............? Bit of a strange one that .

Have you found any?

Not yet. The lovely silver one on Autotrader has a number of modifications, albeit tasteful, that I suspect will have an undesirable impact on insurance cost.

One of the ones I had listed earlier in the thread (Bournemouth area) has a few things that need to be sorted (front tyres, bushes, dent in door, melting wheel) so is priced a little high given that work needs to be done.

Nice AB on Ebay too, at £3900 or so but the belts are overdue. Have enquired about that & the seller has indicated they'd be happy to have the belts done but at a local garage (not a specialist) which I'd rather avoid as it just seems too risky for the sake of a few hundred bucks.

The search continues...

My budget is flexible for the right car, & I do appear to have entered the market at a time that prices are on the up, but I would expect a £3k example to be pretty much sound (the odd dent/scratch or melting steering wheel is fine).

I'll just have to keep looking, I'm sure one will pop up eventually.

Also hate it when they say the belts done at 60k when they are in fact overdue on age!![/QUOTE]

Yeah, I'm finding this is incredibly common & it is indeed frustrating! So many are long overdue for a belt change on age....

That's the one who's belts are 2yrs overdue & the owner has offered to have the belts done, but at a non-specialist. Shame as it looks lovely.
The cambelt, dephaser ....... was done over 7 years ago ? The service interval is 5 years or 72k miles for cambelt service and 5 years 36k miles for aux belt service.
I think it looks a decent honest advert imo.

MOT online suggests 60k (when the belts were done) was between Sept '11 & Sept '12, so at the very least they are due pretty much around now.

Agree the ad is good & appears honest, just seems steep given a 'mandatory' service is required immediately/imminently at a cost of £700 or so.
