172 tech question ref dephaser

  clio 172 2004
i have determined with the help and very useful posts on this site that my dephaser pulley needs replacing, the belts were done 10k ago but it appears the pulley wasnt :/
can someone give me an idea of cost please as i havent owned the car long, also is it a specialist job or can any garage do it ?
cheers

Its a new belt job again I'm afraid mate. You're looking at 5-600 quid from a specialist.

I'd only recommend taking it to a specialist as the timing procedure is easy to mess up unless the person knows what they're doing.

Where abouts are you from?

if you look at one of the first videos in the "is my dephaser on its way out " that is how it sounds :/

i took it to the dealer this morning they can either sort it or refund my money on a 14 day no quibble deal !

the service history i have says the cambelt was done at 77k ( car has 88k now) but no mention of dephaser :/
they are looking at it and coming back to me

Unless stated at the time (dephaser) I'd be suprised if they refund you. Did you have the car when it was replaced (belts?)

no i have only had it a week, then sat morning it started to sound like a diesel and i did the research

Ah. Be amazed if they will help tbh. Whoever owned the car will have been asked wether to replace the dephaser @XYZ pounds or not.

If you have only had it a week and bought it from a dealer then take it back and ask them to replace it. Just MAKE SURE they pick a garage that has the full set of tools, you DON'T want a garage who uses Tipex to do it.
They will need to at the very least change the Cambelt with it, but I would hope they change the whole Kit (£75).

Won't happen imo.

I hope to be proved wrong

Ah re read the 14 day warranty thing. They will either,

A. Ask for a contribution from you
B. Do nothing
C. You get your money back.
