172 Alarm/Immob...

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place!

Is it true that only UK cars come with the alarm and immobiliser as standard?

I'm going to look at a car tomorrow and I'm not sure if its an import or not? The lad selling it says is a UK car but the HPI says "Silver Unspecified (UK) No Model Stated". Not sure how to check.

Any advice much appreciated.

A uk car will have a thatcham cat1 cobra alarm as standard, check by the gear stick for a red flashing light, if its not there, then its not got one- so it will prob be an import.
if your unsure about the alarm, ask the seller what alarm if has on it, as they may have had one fitted if it's an import.
To tell if its an import, it won't have locking nuts (although they may have bought a set) wont have etched windows & won't have the flashing light by the gear stick.
It will prob say on the log book too.
