1.2 16v gearbox

hi all, my aunts just bought an 04 1.2 16v first gear is very notchy my 1.4s the same just wondering is this normal. also when dipping the clutch to change gear and coming of the clutch it makes a clunking sqeak :S

what do you mean notchy?

when putting clio's into gear it sometimes feels as if it is in gear when it is only half way in... the gearboxes are made that way though
