£40 per alloy refurb and paint, but what colour?

  172 Cup
...yeah £40, sounds cheap enough to me, i met a guy in newton abbot whos just started his own booth for cars, wheels etc - with 25 years body repair experience.

I hadnt considered any other colors until he asked for my paint code, and now im in this awesome dilema.

I've narrowed it down to 3 colors, black, anthracite or white.

any ideas? im so undecided between the 3... i just thought i'd stick this up and see if i can tip the scales with some biased views..
cheers me dears :)

My own opinions (for what they're worth) -

  • Nearly all cars on the road have silver alloys and as most of them are quite small diameter, probably the best choice - why draw attention to them?
  • If the wheels are of of a large enough diameter (ideally 16" or possibly 15" on a mk2 Clio) draw attention to them.
  • For me white only works on a white, or full-on track car.
  • Gloss black or dark grey I reckon are the best choice for any colour of car - unless the car in question was black in which case I'd say go for the grey (otherwise too much black.)
Don't be worried about following the crowd - I always try and do whatever I think is right, irrespective of whether it's the same or different to everybody else. Sometimes everybody else is wrong, but quite often everybody else is right.

(Just some random thoughts - I haven't given it much thought in the past, honest )

P.S - £40 seems like a pretty good price for powdercoating, or expensive for normal paint, although I guess it depends on condition - which are you having?

Went in again to see the chap today, he uses 2 pack... I'm not so sure about it now... Though i am decided on anthracite, or a slightly darker shade.

2 pack any good for wheels??!

£40 seems alot for 2 pack paint.

in bristol i can get 4 x 15" alloys blasted and powder coated for £70.(and any colour he has) but he doesnt refurb so you have to do that first.
