I went to Rentech and they said they could help but it would be extra to put it on CLIP to do a Diagnostic check, I don't think the chap I spoke to quite understood what I was asking of them. The brakes have been fine after a second bleed with the power bleeder and if it goes spongy again I'll...
Hi Chris,
I'll pop along on the Thursday, I don't normally bother with the other days at the FOS as I tend to prefer the revival and members meeting.
Would be good to meet some CS members there and go for a beer.
I'm trying to get the brakes sorted on my Trophy as somewhere along the line someone has bled the brakes badly and got air into the ABS pump, if I bleed them with my pressure bleeder they are fine for a month until the ABS/TCS gets activated and then air gets in and the pedal goes soft again...
Spotted the other evening whilst I was selling my soul to Walmart and shopping at Asda. I was in a hurry so couldn't get a good look but I haven't seen any other RS's driving around here (Selsey).
I'm Back!!!
After a brief (4year) hiatus from Renaultsport I'm now the proud owner of Trophy #394, moved from Worthing now and in Selsey. Any RS owners down here?
Sadly selling my Clio as I am buying an estate car.
Has been really cherished and will be missed.
More details on my auction website: http://www.bidmotor.co.uk/item.php?id=7
£2250ono
I guess that does make sense for cruising on the motorway.
For a B-road blaster though I'd personally like it to be crisp the whole way through.
I wonder if an RS-Tuner map would alter it. At least I know I'm not alone and the car is driving as it should!
Thanks Adalis, maybe I'm worrying over nothing then.
I only started to notice it when the speedo dropped out, but now i know it's there it's really annoying.
I wonder what reason there was for this feature? I could understand it in 1st gear to limit wheelspin etc but in 4th/5th seems to be...
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I'm having the exact same issue.
I would have excellent throttle response in 1st-3rd but in 4th you would need to push the pedal down a fair way more than the other gears. When the speedo stopped though the throttle response in 4th suddenly improved.
I have...
Brill, I'll definitely get this looked at, I don't think it's miles out as the car runs well and gets reasonable MPG although the response is a little sluggish off the mark and the idle is lumpy.
Thanks guys,
I've had an offer of checking the timing from JRS182 who's 10miles up the road from me so I might look at this after Christmas.
If the timing is out, can it be changed without taking the old belt off, or are you better off just doing the belt change? Mine is a Cup so no A/C etc.
Hi Joe,
Thanks for the warm welcome. Good to see there are some local owners!
I may take you up on that offer, though I spoke to Dave at Rentech yesterday and they quoted £380 to do the timing belt which didn't sound too bad to me. The belt was changed (according to a handwritten bit in the...
After a long search and travelling far and wide to look at some tatty 172's I finally found a low milages 172 cup 10mins up the road!
Very happy with her and will be giving her a service this weekend. I think the cambelt was last changed without the correct tools though as although she runs...
Hi all,
I've just bought a Clio 172 Cup and although it runs great it doesn't feel quite a peppy as some of the full fat 172's I drove before finding this one.
Looking at the service book I can see it has had a cambelt change however it seems it was done by the used car dealership supplying...
Hi all,
Maybe a silly question but I've been trawling through the classified there seem to be two different engine types.
This one is on an 03 plate Cup
and this one is on a 53 plate Cup
Is it just a cover or they actually a different lump?
Many thanks in advance!
Hi folks,
I've been browsing this wonderful forum as I'm looking for a Renaultsport.
From my readings of the various models I'm pretty sure the 172 Cup is for me (in blue :approve:).
So glad there is such a wealth of information here and the buyers guide is great!
Cheers,
Mat
