My Dad had a HPi check done for around £15 I believe, dont quote me though. Id say 50K-60K on the clock would be good for an N reg Maybe less if you look around!

Should get a pretty decent one for that much! Get it HPI checked and make sure it has full service history. With 3k you should be able to get a low mileage one no problems
