Hi mate. Ive been charging £150 to paint someone's lid. Bearing in mind its an hours prep, 6-8 hours painting, hours lacquering and buffing and about £30-40 of materials, I think thats reasonable. :-)
Thanks folks. Dug out an old Caberg lid I used for commuting (the black one).
Got it this far so far but undecided on what to put on the back. Beyween a pinup girl or an Apocalypse Now type scene with some helicopters and stuff?
Great, thanks folks. Been airbrushing for a few months now so still have looooads to learn but making progress. Hope you like! Started a facebook page (Foz's Airbrush Projects) if any of you are into that kind of thing. :-)
Agreed, mate! Genuinely looking forward to people's views that have had both and gone back to a Clio. Im sure there are plenty of pros and cons and no doubt some I havent thought about yet.

Hello all
Just thought I would say hello really?! Been lurking on here quite a bit recently as I quite miss my 172 at the moment. I change cars quite a lot, had a couple of EP3 CTRs, one 172 and a whole host of big powered jap cars. Left the big power behind though as in today's economic...
Hi Lee. Didn't cost too much as I already had the materials. It's not difficult, just takes a lot of time and patience to flat it back sufficiently. I don't have masses of Coachworks experience, so it's still a challenge to
Me, especially as most of it was done by hand!

Bit of a shameless update really, but today was the first opportunity I had to give my car a wash since the foglight upgrade and as she looked clean for the first time since January, I thought it rude not to take a picture of two, so here I am boring you with a few pics of my little jam jar!
Andy
FINALLY.... an update to this thread... Not a very big one Im afraid, but one that has tidied up the front no end in my opinion...
As earlier stated, my front bumper was looking a bit worse for wear when i got it. Finally sourced a nearside foglight and fog light surround assembly. I wrapped...
Lovely wheels, mate! Always been a huuuge fan of Rotas as im from a predominantly japcar-owned background. Always loved takata coloured Rotas, but I think I could be swayed by orange ones now....

To refurb the bonnet, I would remove the lacquer contamination with various compounds to a clean finish and relacquer it. Would only want enough to cover the materials, pal. Be happy to help out a forum member!
No worries if you don't. Happy to help wrap it if you want too. Two people does make...
I wouldn't mind refurbing it for you if you are anywhere near Kent?
I've also wrapped a bonnet in carbon look vinyl. It's easy enough, pal. Here is or I done!
Andy
Wow, what a transformation! Excellent take on a euro look, pal. You have guts, I couldnt live with a car that low any more, but then i guess im starting to show my age (or so my wife keeps telling me :-().
Good for you, pal!
Andy
Yeah, I can fit a hardtop fitting kit in about 20 minutes. Piece of cake, mate.
Only common issues are those dreaded precats really. Get them removed asap. Other than that, they are fairly reliable bar the odd exhaust temp sensor to be fair! Some people swear by UK models as the jap ones cant...
Thanks, Al. This was my most recent mk3 All cars bought standard and modified (and most painted) by me!
This was my one before that.
Ive had 5 or 6 mk2 MR2s too, a couple of RX7s and a whole host of other jap mobiles but i wont bore you with all of those too!
Andy
I was going to wrap them in carbon anyway, Daz, so seems financially more sense to but second hand as I assume they won't be cheap from Renault? Guess I could get a price though!
Did this used to be your car then, Hugo? Any history you can pm me about the cae? Nice to know as much as I can.
P.S. She is in good hands now with an experienced modder!!!
Hi all
So, i sold my modified MR2 Roadster as there is me, my wife and our lad and it was just not getting used enough for my liking. So Im now back in a car with lots of seats (well, four, but thats a 100% increase!).
Picked up a damaged 172 Sport which already has some pretty tasty mods...
