Hi all
I used to use this site ages and ages ago when I had a Clio 172 from 2000 - 2003. I am looking at buying a Clio 182 Trophy now and was wondering if there are any tips or buying guides about so that I dont buy a dud. I think there was something in Evo a few months back but i give my...
Well it has got to the point now that I have had enough of my 172. I have had so many problems that have been technical and dealer related that I am now looking to get the lease cut short with the leasing company (they have agreed that it is not good enough) and replace the car. Its a shame...
I have a clutch with 1500 miles wear on it on my 172 and it has started juddering when i pull awway in 1st and 2nd gears. Has anyone else seen this or know what it means ? This is the 3rd clutch in my car after 2 faulty ones and i want to know if this is a fault aswell.

Well after 5 years without a prang i have gone and bent the Clio thanks to numbnuts in a Vectra a couple of weeks back.
On a big roundabout, i was coming round, had not been in car long so tyres were cold and he decides to pull out onto the roundabout across me at the last moment and then...

My oil and stop lights have been flickering on and off occasionally for the last 3 days.
Oil level is fine and there are no leaks i can see. I am going to take it to Reno on Fri but anyone got any ideas what it might be ?
It is a mk2 172, July 01 with 22k on the clock.

Well i borrowed a mates Civic for a trip to Southport for the dance weekender last weekend and this is how it compared to my 172 mk2.
- Clutch - we all know the clutch in the 172 is poop, but the clutch in the Civic was very nice.
- Gearbox - the Civic has one of the best if not the best...

I passed a new shape red (52 reg) V6 Clio on the M40 yesterday evening. I pulled out of Warwick services southbound and there she was. Awesome.
Even got a flash from the driver !!

You may have heard this before but one of the reasons that GM called the Nova "Corsa" in Europe is because in Spanish, Nova means "wont go".
Hahahahaha.

Anyone else got a problem with the drivers side wiper blade on a mk2 172 ?
From the motion of the wipers, it seems like my wiper blade is always trying to move towards the center of the windscreen, out of the wiper arm. I have now had 4 sets of wiper blades and the most recent set is...

Had a bit of a go with a silver mk2 172 on the Windsor bypass up to the M4 Slough junction last night at around 2000h.
Looked like it had a different back box. Very clean too. Carried on straight in towards Slough.

Not actually for the 172, but I have been offered a set of 15" steel rims with wheel trims. They are fitted with 175/65 R15 Bridgestone B365 tyres, and they have been on a brand new car for 2200 miles, which has just had different size alloys fitted.
What sort of money would I expect to offer...
Well I finally got the kit fitted yesterday afternoon. It was a b@stard of a job, as there is so little space under the bonnet of the mk2 172.
The cold air feed pipe has been taken out of the front of the airbox and i have fixed the standard air feed pipe for the original airbox into it...
I have the factory fit Continental ContiSport Contact 195/45 R16s on my car at the moment.
I have heard that the Michelin Pilot Exaltos are very well suited to the Clio and the cars wet-handling is vastly improved, as well as the dry handling.
Does anyone else use these tyres ???? If so...
Well i have finally gone and ordered it after much hesitation !!
Got it from Carnoisseur in Westcliff-on-Sea nr Southend. Will have to be made so it will take about 2 weeks but it cant go on until after the service anyway !! I even got me 10% discount for being in the club too !!!
Dave
Does anyone use one of these filter on a mk1 or mk2 172 ??
I am on the verge of ordering one but wanted to know how others have got on with them ??

Just had a long conversation with Mark Fish from Mark Fish Motorsport about induction kits.
The main problem with the 172 is that is is very difficult to get cool air into the engine. If you use an induction kit (cone filter), then it is going to suck in warm air and you will lose...
