I think people tend to forget cars depreciate over time, there not gonna stay up at £10-11k as they get older, when they're 3 yrs old they'll likely to be worth about £8k (based on a 60% residual).

the only way to know is to ask your insurance company, it depends on who they are, how old you are etc. I'm with elephant and they just charged me £50 for wheels, springs & exhaust but i'm an old git, 34. But they may not allow it or they may want another £500 who knows. I know renault...
