Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

My dad was telling me that back in the day when you got nitromors on your hand it would burn like hell. I used some screwfix stuff and it look 3 to 4 applications and a pressure washer to get about half the paint off. The rest I had to use a flapwheel! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

Definitely mate. For the sake of £50 it's not worth it. I've probably put about 15 hours into these wheels. Getting the paint off was the hardest thing. Seems like all the paint strippers on the market are pants! Not strong enough! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

Anyone wondering how they came out I'd say pretty good! Would I recommend a DIY refurb to anyone- hell no. It's a false economy- the money you save is negligible. Having said that it's a rewarding process. I bought some eBay rim protectors to prevent my hard work being ruined. 182 alloys have a...

Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

Thanks bud. Yeah I've just let the lacquer cure for a few days and I've just hit it with some wax (haven't got any sealant). Hopefully that should do the job for a while and stop the brake dust eating away at the finish [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Clio 1.2 16v Mod ideas?

Apart from that maybe look for 172 rear bumper. You'd have to have it painted though but does make the rear look better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My Clio 1.2 16v Mod ideas?

Hi mate, I'd say colour coding is always a good option. Doesn't cost much- you can do it yourself. Get the paint made up from Halfords or auto-paint in St. Helens. You could also spray your side bullets in silver/black etc to give it a sport look. Pretty sure there's a guide on here in the...

    182 Xenons on a non-sport

Thanks Danny. Great info. Is there any way of telling they've had an HID kit fitted? Never been a fan of those tbh- more trouble than they're worth.

    182 Xenons on a non-sport

Anyone done this before? Was driving on the motorway in poor conditions and realised how bad the standard halogen headlights are compared to the xenons even with good bulbs (Phillips Xtreme vision). Can you straight swap 182 xenons into a non-sport with standard headlights? Sorry if this has...

Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

Thanks for the heads up. Swaying towards Audi Titanium Silver. It seems others have used it with good results. Will exchange the paint tomorrow

Is respraying alloys silver ever a good idea?

Looks like my last message got cut short- sorry about that. Agree with you. I DIY refurbed my current set a couple of years of ago and came up decent. Any ideas on an OEM silver?

Not sure I agree with this. Powder coating is generally regarded as a much more durable finish from what I've heard.

Anyone know a decent silver for the wheels? I've got Iceberg Silver. Any ideas if this would replicate a standard alloy well?
