I dont think that will work anyway. The blue connector is for the CD changer and that is a digital interface, not analogue audio. The green connector is the correct one for the AUX and that only works with the update list head unit which a 172 probably does not have.
Neither of these will work with a standard head unit- the aux in on the back of an update list (no aux in on tuner list, just digital cd changer connector) is a mini iso connector, 6 pin green.
Symptoms on mine since updating to 3.1 (since then to 3.1.2 with no change). All stuff that is not needed switched off (push, location etc).
Starts at 100% then drains normally to about 85% depending on use, then suddenly jumps to 62% and sits at that for about an hour regardless of use then...
Yeah saw that, The BLACK is ground, RED 12V (permanent), PURPLE 12v (switched ACC) according to the denison web site, you will just need to connect these up at suitable points.
This looks like it sits in line with the aerial connector and produces the ipod on the head unit like a fm transmitter only hard wired. The loose cables may just be for power.
The 197 I fitted one to had the same head unit as my photos, I think that some other people from here with the different Renault head unit (multi CD one maybe) have fitted them ok.
Maybe you could try the enable AUX bit in the instructions, if that works then there is a very good chance that...
Airplane mode on- This deactivates wifi but you can reactivate this without it coming out of airplane mode. This is what I did in the USA, stops people from ringing you and spoiling yer hols.
