I have owned both a FF 182 and currently a FRP and they're different beasties really. From experience:
182:
+Better daily drive (FRP suspension is HARD)
+Quicker (in a more civilised way) on the straights. Round corners it is a different story - FRPs corner like race cars - nice...
I'm not blinded by car loyalty mate... The Focus scares the poo out of me in the wet - its pretty much undrivable in the ice / english winter. Petrol consumption sucks, chavs stop and gawp etc...
But it is an amazing car
Love the Clio for other reasons - but I'm now selling mine cos I...
Yes the focus is still a focus. But 80% of the parts are different, each was hand built and its limited edition (around 2000 in the UK). Several have (ahem) crashed and according to RSOC looks like closer to 1750 odd are still in the UK
I looked at the Integra and liked it a lot... but the...
172Blue - where you from? I'm in Horsham!
And I agree with comments so far... Megane R26 is a fair comparison (and benchmark).
The Clio is useless for my 6ft + mates trying to fit in the back. The RS 'just' about suits. I'm sure the Meg has similar leg room etc.
I'm not blind by the...
I own both...
And the RS is a better car, and noticably quicker than the 182.
Both are modified - 182 has Grp N, Maxogen, Full exhaust and uprated brakes.
RS has Full Milltek + decat, bluefin, panel filter and uprated brakes.
To 60, not a lot in it as the RS 'bogs' down a bit.
In...
Do what I did....
Move onto a Focus RS and never look back!!
Bigger, a lot quicker (certainly far more torque), very easy to tune, rare, quite stealthy, awesome grip (well, in the dry - in the wet WILL kill you)
I love it
I just got a Focus RS and love it. Spent £1,200 on mods (bluefin, sports cat and milltek exhaust) and has been rolling roaded at 255 bhp...
It is extremely rapid, good looking and reliable, and cheap to look after.
Only down side is the fuel costs... £50 of Vmax gets me 220 miles tops :S
