Pi Springs

  Lionel Richie

The idiots at halfords forgot to tell me its going to be a two week wait for 60mm SPAX springs so i cancelled my order and ordered 60mm Pi springs from Carnoiseur instead. Anyone got any opinions on Pi???? Are they any good????

Fred, as you have a dynamique too, i was wondering: are they lowered or just uprated suspension over the other standard clios? If they are lowered how much.

id say Pi were better than Spax

ive heard loads of people like Spax, but after a year they go to sh*t and youll hate em

has anyone in here got their clio 98- lowered 60mm? and do they rub with 4 people in car (17s wheels). need to know before i commit myself to them springs!

i got Pi and more than ok....dont really need rising rate or progressive springs unless your a girl or old and need comfort.
Pi are the same poundage all the way

I had 60mm lowering springs in my Mk2 1600 16v and they were crap. If ur gonna do a 60mm drop u must change ur shocks as well. I learnt the hard way. The suspension was none existent and the top mounts on each strut collapsed into bits. I have since xchanged to Pi 30/35mm drop and its sweet now. Save urself the hazzle of 2 sets of springs and new top mounts from renault at £60. The 60mm drop isnt that much lower than a 35mm on ur car. The weight of my engine dropped the front well over the entire front tyres!!!

yeah, but it looks like a rollerskate on 17s and a 40mm drop, it NEEDS to go lower!!!! If the top mounts collapse, ill just wack the standard springs back on and take it back to Renault!!!!

just got mine done last week...lowered on eibach springs 30mm front, 35mm back...running on 16s now, so they look quite good...lower COG now gives better cornering by far.

still on standard shocks...waiting for those to go before slapping on either sachs or koni adjustable shocks...does anyone have any experiences with these shocks? which are better? please help...

unfortunately in singapore to go lower (i.e. anything more than 40mm) would mean possible scraping of the front as we have many speed bumps and some of them are bloody huge...

Are the springs different on the 01-present clio than on98-01 as I looking for a set of springs.

Fred where did you get your Apex ones from as I cant find anywhere that stocks them???

Demon tweeks were no use as they didnt know either!!(and they dont supply Apex)

  Lionel Richie

im selling mine if you want them, they are about 3-4months old (i cant remember off the top of my head) I got them from Motech (clios from 98 onwards have the same set up) i paid £85

  Lionel Richie

I fitted them with the help of jon16v (neither of us really had a clue what we were doing but we got there in the end, it took us a cople of hours) I can now lower or unlower the back of my clio in about 30mins. The front takes about 2hrs in total

  Lionel Richie

Oh yeah, we lowered the back of my car by about 100mm by removing the rear springs completley, looked mint!!!!!

Am from St Helens origanally.

Anyway, sorry am not interested in the 60mm springs as I dont want to modify the bodywork. (I read in previous post that if you want to carry passengers in the back, you have to modify the arches.)

Fred-got urs fitted? still waiting to get mine done, is there scrubbing when unloaded/loaded? has the handling improve? questions questions.....

  Lionel Richie

Yep, i fitted the front springs last night at 11pm!!!!!! it only took me 1hr10mins!!!!!! (i had done the back earlier in the day, took about 20-30mins) The handling is even better than it was before, the ride is quite bumpy, especiallly over speed bumps. Its well worth it though, cos the 17s look even better, i got so many looks this morning coming into college!!!!!
