when i bought my car it had a sport badge, its still on! people dont really know or care, its only peeps with 172/182's , does it really matter, people do drive other cars apart from renualt sports, i mean if i saw a sport badge on a corsa, would u really know it wasnt a sport??!?!?!

If people didn't stick Sport badges on non-sport models (i.e non-factory fitted) then there wouldn't be a problem anyway. Just funny that people badge 1.2's up as something they are very definitely not. Having owned a 1.2 before my 172, i never even considered badging it up; I just saved up for the real thing. Like all the plums in 318's sticking 'M' badges all over it to match their Lexus lights, just looks bad for the brand.

I got pulled over not long back for a random check. Once they'd stopped me they gave me a HORT for a defective number plate (non-standard fontface). Gave me two weeks to change it back to UK standard and get a certified MOT centre to stamp it. I don't doubt that you'll get away with it for a while, but sooner or later you will be pulled either for it, or in addition too.

Eitherway, as has been said if you like it fella then keep it as is. But posting it on a forum and not expecting negative outlooks on such things is also a little niave. Ultimately its you car, and the decision lies with you.

My 2p worth is it looks poor. Might be better altering the lettering with some Tippex and removing the caps?

Car badged to something it wasn't.
Plate badged to something it's not.

Ole for imitation ;)

i harldy think that a 'sport' badge is going to make a great deal of diffrence its just a fuss about nowt, i mean like i said earlier who really notices - it doesnt look bad for the brand , i think its just a case of some 172/182 owners getting pi55ed off cause it doent take much to get a basic clio looking like a sports model. id love a 182 but unfourntnatley i cant afford it , nor can i afford the insurance, plus i dont think i could justify paying that amount for a an ageing clio mk2 ph 2.

everything you posted is very fair apart from this.

I'm all for opinions on this forum either way, didnt expect everyone to like it.

I will learn from my own mistakes :)

plus it says in the reno sales guide that the dynamique and extreme are from the 'Clio sport' collection, no renault sport;)

In who's eyes? I think the differences run a little farther than a $5 badge.

Accept what you have is a 1.2, period. If i can't afford some new Diesel jeans, i don't head down the market and buy a fake pair.

If you could afford it you'd be thinking differently. Don't get me wrong im not losing sleep over it, i just can never understand the rationale, i accept things for what they are in the first place. So when/if i see a 1.2 with a Sport badge....i point and i laugh.

Mitch i didn't mean any offence with my prior comments, just be careful - Theres defective plates, and theres fraud and intent to deceive, police being police you don't know how they'll see it.

i do accept i have a 1.2, as i stated earlier, the sport badge was on the car when i got it! i still fail to see how a small 'sport' badge at the bk makes me a fake - im not trying to achieve the 172/182 look cause its a 1.2!, there no other mods ie bumpers etc and if you have the urge to point a laugh when u see a sport badge on a 1.2 go 4 it cause thats just sad!

and your comment about a £5 badge - obviously in YOur eyes cause you seem to be getting so worked up over it, and i ment other mods - front rear bumpers colour coding!

the 172/182 are nice cars, and yes i would be thinking diffrently maybe this time last yr, but with new model coming out and other small fast cars around which have had face lifts etc, i think i would defo look around 1st now, however i wouldnt knock other who couldnt afford a car like the 172/182 because of a 'little sport badge' cause at the end of the day - you have a 182 with the 2.0l engine not a 1.2, so why dont u accept that, and let people get on with it.

i didnt want to offend but so much fuss of a small sport badge;)

thats the trouble, they never look like 2.0l models -just chavved up small engined clio's with lexus lights. Just like yours.

Maybe im just old fashioned, the whole lexus light thing didn't captivate me either. But your right maybe i need to accept some people don't want to buy a 172/182 because they're aging sooo quickly and that theres so many better value fast-hatches out there ;)

no worries.

step dads a retired sgt. from his comments I gather exactly what they will think lol 'I'll give them a week!!'

They are pretty relaxed around here though, mates been stopped lots of times and they just get a producer,

I'm thinking about going to one yellow cap and one black one.

Paul - har har har!!

why are there so many sad fookers on this site get a life its only a number plate hers mine were ive moved the 0

It may only be a number plate but then thats the only way to realistically identify a car. Get hit by a woman in a car who then races away from the scene and you'll know where I'm coming from.

Just no need for it imo, Mitch's plate looks near enough to his name, no need to change it. If you can't afford the real thing just leave it as is, thats how I feel anyway. Why not just get it made up with a C instead of a D if thats the attitude, probably "get away with it" for years as long as you change it come MOT time.

  Golf GTI 1.8T
well it still looks like a D untill quite far away so making it a C would just be stupid.

the real thing, whats that??

  Golf GTI 1.8T
sport badge has gone so kindly shut the f**k up about it in this thread

anywhoo, gonna change to one do in the D and another one on the other side to make it look authentic.
