Yeah, there’s written guides which are okay. There was a lad on here I think that has a YouTube channel when he bought his 182 iirc.

Been sort of watching these guys, not a buyers guide as such, still pretty cool

So I'm at the stalemate with my Clio at the minute, I love the bloody thing but its cost me a small fortune since buying it back in April last year. I've got to the point where I'm considering cutting my losses. I'm just after some opinions on what it might be worth if I decided to call it a day and maybe look for a change of car.
I've got pictures of it all over my build thread here : https://www.cliosport.net/threads/joes-182-semi-lemon.807001
I'm at the point where to make it really nice I need to spend a good £5-600 on it including body work if not a bit more plus a rear bearing and caliper issue.
I've thought about breaking which will probably be the only hope I have of getting some form of money back for it.
Apart from the above problem its mechanically sound, Its a fairly clean example other than the bodywork issues listed below. If it was a sale it would come with 12 months MOT.

04 182 with 100,500 miles
Arctic blue - Would have a paint correction and sealed before sale
Maintenance-
Cambelt,de phaser and cam seals 2017
Valeo clutch late 2017
Brembo front discs and Girling pads
Yuasa battery late 2017
New Bosch lamba sensors
New plugs, leads and pack
2 New Genuine Injectors
Pollen filter replaced
Oil and filter changed

Upgrades -
Snappy Steering wheel
Pure motorsport shifter with dampner
Stripped out rear seats with Ktec boot carpet
Pioneer head unit with new speakers all round
Speedline Turinis with 2x Uniroyal RS3 and 2 Nankang NS2 (also have original wheels with old contis on)
Stud Conversion
Ktec sport cat back
Cooksport Springs with new front genuine shock absorbers
Fatty style intake (ramair)
New style RS Badge
Ph1 Lights (Ph2 still owned)
Polybush wishbones with new ball joints late 2017
New Arb outer bushes and track rod ends late 2017
Heko Wind deflectors
Polybushed rear beam

Issues
Bodywork - Front bumper has some paint peel on the nearside corner - Needs repainting
Big dent in the centre of the bonney (I'm hoping a PDR guy can remove it)
Paint bubbled and coming off where the rear quater meets the rear bumper - Needs repainting
Couple of car park dints on the offside
1 alloy curbed

It's about time the values rose a bit on well sorted 1*2's i think! New clutch and gearbox is A LOT of money, it transformed my car when I had it done, surely has to reflect in the price? Sounds like above car needs no work...

Very ture, been there and done that :/

What you thinking of getting, E36?
Dunno yet mate, contemplating getting rid of the Mondeo ST daily and Clio track car and just having 1 car as a daily and to do a few track days in as the Clio sits idle 95% of the year and just seems a waste.

S2K or M3 maybe with spare track wheels and brake pads.

The Clio track car sounds too good to sell! But yeah I also say an S2K..! Just bought an EP3, engine and gearbox are superb...! With the extra horses in the S2K it would be a weapon!!:up:

Yep owned the ep3 as well (5 years) and was a great car, just lacked that bit of torque and refinement to make a great daily for my commute so traded it in for a Mondeo ST220. The S2K however fits the bill, if not shouting mid life crisis, lol.

Pics may be coming later today ImprezaDan, been too cold lately to wash it so held back... Just in the process of returning the RB 182 to non blacked out because my dearest 65 yr old mum had had it off me as a run around....:tongueout: Saves me storing it in damp barn and she loves it so it's a win win.....:up:

Not a bad car to have a crisis in, lol.

Note to self. Be awesome as a track car too.

Can imagine you whizzing round oulton complaining of clios getting in the way

I'm amazed how solid the EP3 feels JB21... Not a squeak or rattle anywhere and feels a much bigger car than the 182, which suits me as I'm 6ft 3...

Sod midlife crisis, at least youre living your life.....

ImprezaDan, Black diamond badges broke as i pulled them off(3m tape). Got Black and RB bullets and RB and Black bullets... Also black wheels will be for sale once I find anthracite replacements, i think that's about it!

Yep I thought that mate when I picked mine up back in 2007, only had 25k on it mind but it did feel solid. By the time I traded it in on 100k & 5 years later and it still felt solid, and the only thing that got replaced in that time (excluding consumables) was a clutch and radiator which popped due to a stone chip when racing with a Meg 225. Uber reliable cars!

Cheers for the valuation.
It's an 05 plate.
I'd say it's not clean enough for the £3k valuation but £2k is definitely realistic.
Not bad for a car I paid £600 for needing a box haha

Lads,

Yesterday my 182 clio's cambelt went snap. Aux belt took out the cambelt which is a right sod as I had them both replaced 2 years ago. Anyhow. Few different options as to which way to go with it but I need advice as to what to do. (And hopefully a bit more sympathy than the Mrs gave me lol)

Specs-
Silver Clio 182. 102,XXX miles. Miltek cat back exhaust. Brembo high carbon brakes with ferodo ds2500 pads (seen about 10k), new rear brake pads about 3k ago, Turinis with Michellin PS3 tyres (also seen about 10k). Skoda fabia front splitter. Decent interior. Replaced the thumb grips.
The car is in pretty decent condition. Not too many stone chips and a few parking dents. The usual. X2

Part service history but even in my 2 years of ownership its had 3 full services and plenty of paperwork.

Rough value as it stands?

Been told at least a couple of valves have bent. Dont think the pistons have been damaged. Basically top end rebuild is whats needed.

Exactly the same happened to mine mate, get it built back up dropping 197 cams in whilst you're at it as I doubt you'd get much more than a grand as is.

Not much help here but is it possible to put some kind of guard between the aux belt and cambelt to stop this? Seems an utterly ludicrous design error by renault to me...?!

Mine didn't even snap mate it just frayed causing the belt debris to make its way into the timing system making it jump, bending a few valves in the process! To answer your question don't think there much you can do TBH.

Not much you can do as it runs off the crank like this (big pulley on the left)

Even with the lower cover over the cam belt, it's still exposed underneath

So we've basically established renault are great at making fun cars but not so great at making them survive very long lool.

Spoken to a local engine builder. He says to not bother rebuilding top end. Whole engine is about the same price.

Im relatively handy with a spanner and have a begrudged dad to help. How hard is it?

You can just get a used replacement head for less than £100 mate if there's only valve damage.

Cheers for the pics JamesBryan:up: I didn't realise the Aux belt was so big!! I'm worried now as my 182 had Aux belt kit 3 yrs ago, done about 26k since... Should I be worried?!
