Daniels Blue 182.

nice selection of cars buddy! I need a go in a 225 just to see what a turbo car is like. I've never driven a petrol turbo ever!

I post on Detailing world, a biking forum i'm on and Briskoda which is a skoda forum from when I had a Seat Ibiza PD130 (share the same engine as the fab vrs so was on that forum for guidance.

Cheers yeah, it's so different. Was so good moving from the 182 up to the 225 but it feels even better when I moved to the Cupra. The power delivery seems so much better. Looking forward to getting the 225 back on the road for a small while before selling it and having a drive around, the Cupra handling isn't a patch on it!

If you call near Barnsley any time between when it's fixed and not sold call and have a go ;)

I thought I'd recognised the user name on DW but wasn't sure if it was you on here too. You got Instagram or anything? I'm sure I've seen your car on there when having a browse through 182 posts haha.

Just gave this another read through from the start for some ideas.

How you finding the Bilsteins? Not had chance to look at what suspensions on my 182 but they could have just replaced the suspension for a couple of bricks it's that hard. Trying to decide whether to go with the Bilsteins direct from Germany like you did or AP's which I had on my A3.

Bloody hell you're more of a man than me mate haha! Bet that took a while

I'm loving the Bilsteins so so much, it doesn't feel like you're on coilovers most of the time when you're driving. Are you free one day over Easter? Maybe you could come around here and we can remove those washers and you can see what you think the ride is like with the Bilsteins?

Nobody can see my screen at work so lets just say I had a bit of a long 'break'.

Yeh, I've nothing planned dude, that'd be brilliant as I'm constantly changing my mind on which to go for, it's doing my head in. Also had a failed attempt at getting them washers out last night, got 3 bolts out but 1 came half way then refused to shift. Gonna have another bash at the weekend when I've got some WD40.

Just read about the washers for your billies! Ordered some myself.

Glad I did as I'm fitting mine next week. Cannot wait after driving yours.
Thanks for the reminder, need some too ... dont know how many you ordered but if you or Dan want to sell me some please let me know.

Dan's link was for 10 washers so that's how many I've got coming.
I'll pm you my paypal, and if you send me £2 I will post out a bunch of them for you when they arrive next week?

Yeah the washers are really important. You'll get that horrible spring compressing and releasing noise if not fitted which can only be bad.

I can't stress how happy I am with the handling of the car now i've fitted the anti roll bar. I've got it on the hardest setting and it's helped turn in even more so much.

It's up to a point now where it feels so good that i'm being thrown out of the seat quite a lot when going for it, with me being only 5'7" and 60kg i'm like a hotdog in a hallway ( wrong expression but felt the need to use it) in the current seats.

One day i'll write a list of all the stuff i've done so far in terms of handling etc and see where I can improve it even further!

I'm buying Dr jekyll (can't tag :( )'s solid engine mounts from him next week!!

Then going to see what else I can polybush. Maybe wishbone bushes but not sure if it's worthwhile and anyone confirm?

And saying that i've discovered a bit of an annoying problem now, when dropping the clutch I can hear a knocking noise, like the engine is rocking back and forth hitting something. Also when i'm on the power and I let off it will also knock.

Hoping it's engine mounts if i'm changing them!

But i've also heard something about the driveshaft knocking if the car is too low at the front?

You've been in mine, I have the Powerflex black bushes in. No discernible differences between them and the OEM ones really, wouldn't bother looking back.

I also have solid engine mounts, and while the extra vibration at idle is a little annoying, I personally wouldn't go back to OEM there.

OH BABY :up::up::up::up::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush::blush:

As mentioned in PM's but it may help others, I'd advise to remove the airbox, battery, gearbox mount cage and gearbox cage bracket rather than trying to undo the gearbox mount. The bolt under the ecu and at the side underneath the battery can be a bit fiddly but you'll have all the sockets and extensions in your halfords box.

It will be easier to remove and fit the new gearbox mount once the cage is off as you'll have access to the top and bottom of it for the pin nuts and gearbox mount nylocs. By all means try the otherway but although this way seems long winded, I think it'll be easier for you in the long run.

Not the best pic but you get the idea.

Drivers side is easy peasy but gearbox is time consuming. Make sure you have a jack with some wood under the sump before you start and set yourself a few hours.

We ended up doing it your way mate! Took quite a while and thank f**k matty is massive as we really had to swing on that pin to get it off the original gearbox cage!! Got that side done though so thanks mate! :D

We went clay pigeon shooting today which i've never done before :D It was bloody awesome, even had my jumper off and nearly got a tan:

Car does look good and sits well.

Imagine trying to fit the mount without removing the cage. F*ck trying to get your hands under there for those 2x M8 nuts! At least the hardest one is done. Don't say i didn't warn you! Lol

I was gonna say common sense vs bullshit you should get away with it. Then I thought if a lorry was trying to get in/out you would have a smashed up clio lol

I changed the other mount today. Jeeeeeesus that was incredibly easy compared to yesterday haha, literally 8 bolts!

I haven't had chance to fully spank it and test it but so far so good, no horrible noises and the engine doesn't move AT all now which is ace :D

Old!

F*ck that old one is like the titanic! At least the replacement is in a LOT better condition.

You will love it when going for a "good" drive, the engine feels nice and tight. When you stall it feels more sharp though

Just fitted my bilsteins today and then I've just seen this haha what exactly are you talking about ? I feel like I probably should of done this to mine haha

You need an m22 washer or this happens mate!

It goes on top of the spring platform and takes up the gap or your springs will compress and twang and all those horrible noises will occur
