Well the car is currently for sale at the moment while I make my mind up about what's next. I won't be taking the Focus on track again but still want to do trackdays. Plan is to get another Clio i.e 172Cup. The thing I'm uncertain of is whether to sell the Focus on or run two cars, obviously Clio would be more track biased than my Ph-1 was.

Decided to keep the car for the time being, I actually did have a buyer at one point but after a blast over Wales it swayed my decision. lol

So with that in mind I gave it it's annual service, while I was at it I decided to tackle the leaky oil sump too, rather than reuse the old rusty sump I just went a head and bought a brand new one. Also decided to upgrade back to two piece brake discs again as well.

Discs as they came, only needed the discs as I had the bells from the previous 2 piece discs that were on the car

and fitted to the car.

Sump was fairly easy to do, bit messy cleaning all the old sealant off but apart from that it went on without much incident. Although I hate using sealant on oil sumps, hear many horror stories of too much sealant being used, it dries and breaks off and falls in to the oil inside, then the oil pick up pipe sucks it up and becomes blocked thus causing oil starvation.

No more burning smell from the oil dripping on to the down pipe. lol

Did another trackday at Oulton on Tuesday just gone. Day went well with no mechanical issue bar wheel bolts coming loose towards the end of the day. Car definitely needs to be stiffer though, even with the BCs on fully stiff the car still felt too soft, need semi slick tyres for next time too. Unfortunately OpenTrack's photographer didn't make it to the event so there's no photos from the day 😧

With the semi slick tyre idea in mind I picked up a set of Pro Race 1.2s in 18s for £250, absolute bargain cos they're in mint condition bar one scuff

Plan was to use them as my track wheels but after trial fitting them to the car I'm considering using them as my road wheels and using the standard wheels as my track wheels as they're in need of a refurb.

Look much better on the car than I expected.

Rears are as low as they'll go and the front only has 10mm or so left. So the car will be higher, I might polybush my rear beam while I'm at it as the car will need realigning again if I do the springs.

Think I'm going to try DemonTweeks for the alignment next time as a fair few people have had good things to say about them in regards to alignment. Pretty sure my alignment is out now cos I got a lot of wear on the outside edge of my nearside front tyre.

Could be toeing in a bit or tyre pressure on the day. What pressure did you have in them?

I know road tyres with softer side walls need over 30psi on track to stop them rolling over onto the side walls.

Silver wheels look good!

No way, no photographer? FFS. Only reason I sprayed my wheels the day before was for the photos!

Yeah I was a bit gutted I've got no photos from the day tbh, all part of the day having decent shots of you heroing around on track, plus I wanted to see what that CAF headlight looked like lol

They toe in as standard to help combat the torque steer, tried toe out and the torque steer was dangerously uncontrollable lol. I ran 33psi hot on the front and 30psi hot on the back. Tbh the side walls on these SuperSports are quite soft.

Ayeee, who ever took them was concentrating on the R8 and R35, surprised he managed to catch any of that R8 it was shifting that quick. Came past me as if I was going backwards.

Yeah I caught it on my GoPro - made me look like I was going backwards!

Tbf though so did your car. And every other car... Lol!!

Uploading any videos of me going by? Still no idea what mine sounds like on drive bys lol.

Jord's e36 was impressive, as quick as mine on the straights and I couldn't get near him in the corners

Haha getting hunted down by Jord.

I did notice you were getting quicker through out the day, last time I saw you I think you pretty much matched my speed through Cascades?

Yeah, I could just about keep up. Tyres squealing like a piggie! Can't believe how quick yours and the one with white wheels was in a straight line though! Totally different league.

Haha, yeah definitely improved by the end - only been on track in November when it was wet, so I didn't know what to expect in terms of grip. Way more fun in the dry though!

Yeah mine and Matt's are pretty much identical in a straight line, mine had a bit more grip in the corners due to having slightly better tyres.

Got the track bug yet? lol

Been well and truly bitten!! Need to decide on the next one now [emoji1]

Me and Rigby are looking at doing Anglesey on the 18th April with Javelin, Jord and Mark (Red Mx-5) are doing Cadwell on the 9th March, I was going to do Cadwell but I wouldn't have enough time to get the car ready for it.

I need a new set of tyres ideally, fronts are okay but I wouldn't want two new RSR's and then my current pair of 'okay' PE2's.. So it'll be a couple of months away for sure!

Surely you need to run TDs on track due to weight? I hear light wheels make a massive difference in feel of not a lot on amateur laptimes.
