N/A 270bhp F4R

  cup 182 mit stripes
LOL The boy ca'nt make up his mind. Shoulda' waited for the Ben R.
Straight cuts will do your head in.

straight gears will be a bit noisy, but they wont break! also there are much less transmission losses than helical gears. i'm not too sure about intervals, but i think it is just because of the design- i'm pretty sure it is a torque biasing diff, so that wouldn't be the reason.
i do know they come with a remote oil cooler, so maybe it is because they operate hotter? i'm not sure, but the guy at team think was always happy to have a chat about it, i think fred knows him actually.
the box is definately what makes them so quick round a track!

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
sadev make the boxes for the cup cars. there is either a sequential at anything up to £7k (i think) or a normal h pattern box for more like £4k.
they both have straight cut internals, and a diff as standard. the reason i was put off was because they need more maintenance, and are normally geared to top at about 120/130 and i use the car day to day.
however, you would really struggle to break one of them, and the ratios are so close that you would leave most things dead round a track.
i'm not sure what power your car makes. but mine is about the 200 mark and will already light up both wheels out of corners, and that is with track tyres! you have to ask if you need more power when you are not yet using everything you already have.
for the box, google team think and give them a call. i think he was going to sell me the box for about £2k and the driveshafts for a couple of hundred.

iirc you need the subframe too as its differnt on the CR's

Anyone know what the ratios mean?

And its only rated to 179lbs/ft.

Hardly the strongest box in the world.

  lift number 1 @ btm
that makes 243 nm, so about 25% stronger. i think the weakness beyond that is the casing itself, thats probably the point where you start shot-peening and all the rest of the messing around.

  M2 Competition
The cup racers in other countries (hungary for example) use the straight cut H pattern box.

And yes, very noisy.

Why not get the K-Tec turbo kit for 6k they say its gud for 260bhp and with a tripple plate clutch , forged rods and an ecu remap u wud see 300bhp.
But that extra 40bhp wud cum at a price!!!!!!!!!!!

i'd love to see anyone with a triple plate clutch on a 172/182! doesn't exist

we've found the weak point is not so much the gearbox (if use it properly it last quite well) but the clutch! 11K miles on a padle clutch and its nearly knackered!

again, speak to frozen solid about the clutch. they also make treated clutches. i'm not sure what they cost, but they say they can custom make almost anything.

i spoke with andy from gdi and for arond 260bhp-270bhp na tuned your looking at around 12k thats steel crank forged pistons and the rest, its alot of money sure it would be nicer to drive then 300bhp turbo,

im currently in 2 minds where to go with my power at the min thats why im just doing work elsewere on the car that i know will make a difference i'll post pics up when it starts coming along the product "holesaw" may have been involved but im not going into any great depth as its top secret

once christmas is over im going to make up my mind how far to go with power i defo want ITB's but to what extent i havent decided

  Megane Trophy
I know someone with an S2k engine running around 260-270 with a pretty much stock engine apart from a custom remappable ECU from DTA, exhaust and air filter. http://www.dtafast.co.uk/ try these guys they have been very helpful from what my mate has said. He also changed to a 6 speed corvette gear box and cosworth rear diff.

I bet that on decent rollers that would make no where near that power.

Were running a race map, enlarged jenvey ITBS, modified inlet manifold, custom inconel exhaust, and we think 265bhp is the max we will see.
Next up is cams and crazy head work.

The cosworth diff is just a Limited slip unit with probs a 3.8.

The highest NA renualts would probably be the ones that williams built for the late 90's BTCC. They were 325bhp!

it proberly would but it is buttons to get relined my boss has done 8000 mile in a mk2 escort running a 2.3 duratec with 294 bhp santa pod every second saturday drives it hard as f**k on the road with a welded diff and has never gave him the finger lol
