MarkCup's Fiesta ST

-J-

  RS2'ed 172 Cup
I've been looking at these myself past few days as an option if I break my clio.

What's the actual difference between ST1 and 2? Just the leather (which I'm not fussed about)

Are they also saying the spoiler won't be standard on the ST's?

As N0ddie said, £1,000 gets you half leather and heated seats, privacy glass, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, keyless button start, and the upgraded Sony audio/DAB/media unit.

Spoiler is staying, it's just no longer a stand-alone option for all other Fiestas.

A little update here now having had covered just about 4,000 miles in 2.5 months and given it its first trackday...

MPG took the expected knock from a day spent thrashing around Goodwood...
20130819graphs_zps2804d321.jpg

I'm pleased to say that throughout the whole day, giving it as much pain as I ever did to either of my RS Clios it never once gave even the slightest grumble. It felt at home being pushed on track, the brakes held up well with a solid pedal, great bite, and not one hint of fade. The Bridgestone RE050s wore away 0.75mm on the front and 0.25-0.50mm on the rear...they felt really nice and progressive when moving. The shoulders of the front two have now turned a nice deep shade of blue though.

So no breakages suffered or repairs/servicing needed, it absorbed it all without complaint...if track outings are on your agenda and you were questioning the ST's capabilities, they're more than up to the task!

So as it stands, here's my cumulative costs to date...I've excluded the cost of the trackday/insurance itself as it's not really relevant for anyone considering what the ST might cost to own.

These look alrite. As another user said a few months back I should have gone Fiesta ST instead of looking down on the world.

... Lease deals are decent. Lot less than my 320d with £1k down.

Whats the difference between the ST1 and the ST2 ?

I'd much rather have a 320D over a Fiesta. But then again I don't drive round everwhere in hero trackdaygod mode.

You wouldn't say that if you drove my 320d at pace. Shockingly bad chassis. Steering lacks any feel also.

I just miss hot hatch fun, Ive had enough of trying to be a big boy trying to show people how much I earn and now I just miss having fun.

Lol. I bet people think you're a millionaire rolling in your 320d.

OT. It was going around Goodwood well Mark.

In all honesty I don't look at people who drive 320Ds as having massive amounts of money. Pretty common cars, probably because as a package they are really good cars.

This isn't a dig at all.. But it sounds like whatever you have you'll not be happy. Just like me.

I've sold everything, leased my wife a new Ibiza for £140 a month (that she loves and it does at least 60mpg everywhere) and I drive round in £1k's worth of 10 year old 206. I'm no more unhappy than I was in my 335d - but considerably richer!

Try running a proper shed for a while. A 10 year old Passat diesel or something. It's quite nice tbh.

Funny, I used to love bombing about in my ex's e46 SE 320d manual estate. Fun car that! High miler and a proper dog although i scrubbed it up well.

I totally agree tho. I was considering buying a Trophy instead as I can buy it outright and save the money each month. Its old and I wouldnt really care what happened to it but it would be an interesting car.

How come you ditched the 335d ?

Mark, im pretty sure i see you almost every day around Ford? I'll be in a black MX5 if its you :)

Ginger!

Black works much better at the rear...try as I might I still can't get along with the coloured lower rear bumper...it looks like such a teenage afterthought. At least on the black it's sort of hidden away.

Black is probably my least favoured colour for the Fiesta. Imo, it hides its good bits.

Ginger is definitely 2nd best colour ;)

Black even in ZS trims looks superb from the rear, definitely the most suited colour bar the Blue, sadly you'd need to be insane to buy a Black car!

Looks sick in black. I hate black cars though. Would have to be blue for me or the red.

Extra Urban reported as almost 60mpg... is that true?

Had it on Surrey rolling Road today...

Compared to my Clio 200 from February...

It really pulls through to the limiter now quite happily. The torque tails off but compared to the Clio, it still has loads more of it, everywhere.

Still very happy with it and loving how it now sounds and feels when you wring its neck.

Saw a blue one today, looked lovely, although I fancy a white one. IMO the ST badges are too big, I'd be tempted to remove them.

That torque curve is great. I bet you can feel it compared to the 200, especially considering the ST is 80kg lighter too.

I'm hoping Catcams make some cams for them like the did the Focus RS/ST 2.5. They made great gains.

After seeing one in the flesh properly today and having a good look around it I really fancy one.

Is this standard still from the factory mate? Thats impressive if so. Im picking mine up in a few weeks. Very excited

Awesome colour choice btw. Easily the nicest especially in the sun.

2 graphs together is interesting, you can see exactly why these are so good to drive, the nasty mid range flat spot of the 200 compaired to the strong mid range of the fiesta!

  Evo 5 RS
Yeah, actually that surprised me. The 200 should definitely get a shout. They seem to be focusing on brand new cars mind you.

  Fiesta ST-2 Finsport
Mark interesting with the graphs, how comes the ST's plots stop at 6500 rpm, did the operator cut it short? Can't be the rev limiter?
