Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

Been reading through your thread Dr Jekyll - I really love your car, the combination of the RB paintwork/white wheels/stance works so well - I particularly like that side profile photo with the moody sky-scape

You've obviously built up quite a knowledge base on these cars over time - & I've loved reading about the little touches/things that you done.

Thank you very much for the kind comments. It really is nice to know that other like what I do.

The moody pic I took when I left work one day. It was only taken on my phone but I thought it looked pretty cool with the sky like that. Plus I love a pic ;)

This is my 4th RS clio now. Here has helped for knowledge and I've met sole great people from here to help my in person or over the phone. Sometimes though, the only way to learn is to just get stuck in!

If you have time, have a read of my old ph1 thread.

http://www.cliosport.net/threads/dr-jekylls-ph1-172-progress-thread.723270/

your car looks pretty low! I'm curious how much really cause I had some issues with mine the first time I got the coilies on it. It used to bottom out quite often so now it's like this:
1473954905462_zpshss2tery.jpg

That's probably the picture making it lower than it is. I'll get some pics tomorrow if I can of the arch gaps.

Mark did you fit your own sunstrip?

Yes I did my cherub. Will do it again at some point as I will remove the windscreen rubbers for a better finish.

By doing this, it actually sits better too with no saggy ends like they all do! Result! It was also here that i decided i wanted to change the colour of the dash strips.

Had some dash clock bulbs spare so i decided to change the cigarette lighter bulb as its never worked. In fact, i don't think i've had had one working in any of my clios!

Dash strips have been sprayed. These are done in the same colour i've done my engine parts in, which is Peugeot Graphite Grey. They've come out really well, i'm very happy. They also need flatting back a tad but it'll be very fine as they look good as they are.

Its hard to capture the colour well but in some lights it looks subtle against the dash, but in other lights it really pops and breaks it up. Having a look and taking a inspiration form @RMDavis thread, i think im going to paint my BMS shifter the same colour.

I had some stickers made up from @LeeRS a while ago and one was this little number to break up the rev counter.

I did also paint the clock surrounds the same colour but unfortunately i knocked it into a tray of acetone that was nearby that i had some calipers soaking in from another job! Gutted as it came out great 😧 Thankfully @cs_dave came to my rescue and is sending me out a replacement asap  2nd time round there will be NO chemicals in sight!

My driveshaft has been ordered. Got a genuine one from Renault but only for the drivers side as Renault no longer sell the passenger side 😧 We will establish this closer to the time of fitting. With this in mind, i want to do a suspension refresh. New genuine track rods have been ordered along with some Febi track rod ends. Im going to order some Febi top mounts and possibly some coilover covers this week also and hopefully fit them all this weekend.

While i was at Alex's picking up the brakes, he had a DCI that he was breaking. I spotted the dash top which was in great condition, barring a bit of mould so i nabbed this up. I've been after one for ages as mine had gone all sticky and these dont have the soft touch film to them. It also matches my recently changed non sport hazard panel.

Once that was all done, i had some leftover paint so i thought i'd do my fuel rail guard which ive meaning to do for a while. I also decided to paint the throttle body too. The rail guard was sandblasted first, the TB wasn't, but took a brillo pad to it instead. Both was then etch primered, painted, lacquered and refitted.

Also with the new dash in it means he's back...... Its Dr Jekyll! I didnt want to put him in on a sticky dash so i was waiting for a better dash to be fitted.

Im in talks/have ordered a cruise control bracket made. Once its made i'll pay and then get it sent to me. This fits around the Sablet wheel. I have ordered a all black 4 button one as i have a ph1 stalk with horn.

As you can see it fits nicely around the Sabelt. Im also in talks with snappy to get my Sabelt retrimmed. I love the wheel and wanted to do it to my old ph1 when i had one fitted. Now that they have been discontinued, it'll make this more special i think. Im going for blue alcantara top and black perforated leather all round

I thinks thats all for now!

  A special one.
Love it mate, it's making me want to buy another.

I'll have to see it in the metal soon mate.

Thank you.

As ive always said, its far from mint. Its now on 112.5k. Pretty good for its age, but a few scuffs, chips, swirls, etc here and there.

But im not interested in getting it clean. I want to get it mechanically good (its pretty good atm) and a few mods/tinkering along the way.

Great updates yet again, love that lego man Dr Jekyll that's brilliant 😂

The little Renault Sport decal on the clocks is very cool btw and high five for taking the clocks apart, I couldn't/wouldn't want to try it, I remember taking the clocks out of my old Mk5 Fiesta Zetec-S and split them to sort a bulb issue and thought then, never again lol!

I'm so 50/50 about changing the wheel in mine, it's like an old van steering wheel its so big BUT it's been retrimmed by Snappy and looks great..... but I look at yours and others and love the button brackets etc, very neat - I was thinking "4 button!?" but then you mentioned the PH1 stalk

Jekyll

ClioSport Club Member
Yeah, my missus bought that for me when i had the ph1  Ive had in my cars since

Thank you. I did remove the clocks on my old BG when i ftted carbon ones so its not a hard job and one that i was comfortable with this time round. There is also a guide on here if you ever decide you want to do it and its only a 20mins job.

If i kept my original wheel then id defiantly get it retrimmed but a smaller wheel feels a lot better. Once its retrimmed and have the new bracket on, itll be perfect.

So as the new clocks were here, i decided to stay afterwork to paint them.

Bezel removed, rubbed down, etched, painted and lacquered. It did come out a bit peely but i left it over night to fully harden before i wet and dried it.

All fitted. The drivers side rubber was a pain to get onto the rack itself but i finally got there.

While the coilovers were off i thought i'd try and sticker over the old solid top mount holes. Its far from neat but was more of a trial. I'll probably remove it and find an alternative idea.

Those clocks look amazing, what colour is that? You might have said but I got lost in the pictures ;) White alloys just suits RB so much, keep the sunstrip looks good!

Have got a metallic pewter. or a slate grey.

I will send you samples of both on monday buddy.

Edit: the pewter looks like the colour strip on the top of that can.

Thank you very much. Thats a very nice comment to hear :)

I worry that beacuse i put loads of pics/info on what i do, people think its mint. Its far from it so i dont want to give people the wrong illusion when they see it in the flesh.

Love the attention you've put into this - baring in mind the mileage and age she looks in great condition.
How do you rate the Bilstein dampers now that you've had them for a while?

Also where do you work? Looks like some lovely machinery around!

Keep up the good work and the updates.
