I've crossed to the dark side! (MBP content)

I received a reply!! Amazing!

He basically apologised, and referred the issue to a colleague who will be in contact soon to help resolve the issue.

Now awaiting another email.......

He also recommended going to an Apple store too.

I can see the outcome though, go to Apple store......replace to MBP for a perfect one.....then they say 'is there anything else I can help you with?'

Yes actually......some feking compensation for all the crap I've had to put up with!!

If you go to a store, ask to speak to a manager and explain. Tell them who you've spoken to (they'll know exactly who he is)

They can give you anything. So don't be fobbed off with 'Here's a £5 voucher'

Not long had another email from the Business Leader in the UK, he said he will personally see this issue through to the end, and will be in touch soon.

All good so far then :)

Right....I've got another email from the other guy, basically saying that if I have a standard unit (which I do) then I can swop it out at an Apple Store.

They would then arrange for the one of their specialists to 'show me around' the mac and set it up etc.

That's pretty much what I thought would happen. But I'm now having to spend MY time and money going to Birmingham to do this.

What do you reckon I should reply with? I don't want to get bitchy and say that its silly that I should have to put the effort in to get the MBP but I want to be to the point too.

The 'show you around' s**t is free if you ask anyway.

Whilst I appreciate the offer of being shown around my new Mac, that isn't really an issue for me. Part of the fun and excitement of a new product like my MacBook Pro is the learning curve. The gloss has well and truly been taken off this purchase for me now. I've had it swapped 3 times and I have to take time out from my weekend to drive to Birmingham to have it swapped again. It's only the fact that I really want a new Mac that has prevented me from taking this back for a refund. As I'm sure you can imagine, if you had paid for a new very expensive product, you wouldn't be happy if 3 of them on the trot were faulty.

I was expecting better from a customer service point of view, I feel Apple have massively let me down and are expecting me to do all the running around myself to fix their problems.

Got a reply already lol!

He basically wants to call me tomorrow morning to discuss it and find the best way to resolve it. I can see myself being really soft and just agreeing to a replacement lol! Not sure what to ask for really.

Can't fault their effort to be fair!

'I travel a lot but when I'm in the UK I would be looking to have it connected to a display. Is there any way you can help me out on that?'

The chances of him giving you a 27" display is slim but no impossible. But when he offers you 10% off just say no. 'I'd be willing to make a token payment towards it but as you can imagine having just spent a lot of money on the MBP, I don't have the full amount for it at the moment'

Whether you'd use it or not is a moot point. You can sell. Lol.

LOL!

You've got to play hardball with him. Don't going pussying out, Dan. If you've not got at least something for free, I will be disappointed.

'I'm so poor I had to buy an Android phone. *sob sob* Any non death-grip 4's knocking about, geeeez?'

There isn't really an Apple product I want at the moment, and I'm not just saying that as a result of my recent experiences.

I have an iPod for travel - works great! Bought an iPad for my Mum for xmas - brilliant. (don't mention an iPhone either!)

The only thing I would consider is moving from PC to an iMac at some stage, as I do a lot of photography work, and I don't game etc.....so that would suit me best.....but my PC is absolutely fine and still reasonable spec.....so not yet. I will probably say that tomorrow too, but say how I don't feel confident buying another expensive Apple product.

lol fair enough!

You can take bets on what I can get for free!

To my disadvantage, I've never experienced anything like this ever, so it's all new to me (if that makes sense lol!)

  Oil Burner
Try and get some storage out of them? Solidstate firewire HDD?

Or a decent set of headphones?

I wouldn't get too unrealistic (you dont sound like you are or want to be anyway), they will have a limit, but it would be rude not to check where it is.

The guy rang.......

He first off started to explain that as I bought the MBP from the Apple store, that's a different company to Apple Retail - so it gets a bit complicated (some sales BS basically!)

He said the best outcome would be for me to visit a store so I can get it swapped out there, and they can show may around it etc.

He then said how he appreciates me having to travel to Birmingham, so they'll thrown in some 'free accessories' to compensate. And left it at that after some more small talk. He's going to brief the manager at the store, and give me his details so they know what to expect before I arrive.

So...what free accessories shall I badger for?! 27" display!? ;) It better be more than a mouse or something stupid like that! It will probably cost me near £40-50 to get to Birmingham and back, inc parking etc, and that's doesn't include my time!

I suppose it could have been a lot worse, but then again, it could have gone better too.

I've going to the Apple store in Brum this Saturday. So will let ya know then.

Lets just say I wont be satisfied with a free mouse or something s**t like that!!

I popped in on Saturday to my local store, they wouldn't replace my lid because the mark was a cosmetic problem. Silly people.

LOL. What did you do to it? :dapprove:

I inflicted an Apple civil war of sorts. Aka I dropped my iPhone on it by accident flol. There's a scratch about 2-3mm lol, tiny little thing but it still bugs me. My mate needed to go there too for his iPhone so figured it was worth a shot!

Right guys, what do you think the approximate cost of the following adds up to:

Day off work for me (awaiting delivery of replacement)
Probably about an hour in total at work calling Apple arranging replacements
All my time wasted since the first was delivered on 30th December
Driving 50 miles to Brum and back (and parking) to visit Apple store.
Wasting my only day off this week visiting Apple store

I want to stress that I'm the one severely out of pocket because of this disaster, so I know it's a little hard, but what do you reckon that adds up to?

FFS. Gutting isn't it?

I dropped a mug on my first MBP from about three feet. That wasn't so tiny.

FYI, if you iSight camera would decide to pack up, they replace the lid and LCD, free of charge. Ahem.

It depends on a few things, names how much of an arse kisser the manager is, how near his targets he is and how scared he is of Crispin.

I'd push for a display TBH. Don't shout, don't be rude. But tell them how disappointed you are and make sure they know who you've spoken too.
