Go back to first restore point. I would download and burn Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, run that and see what it picks up - could be a virus as Thomas said :) OS does sound knackered though, pop a Windows 7 disc in there and repair that should fix the bootloader problem.

Google Drive is Google's version of Dropbox, not as good IMO. TitaniumBackup requires your phone to be rooted (or used to..) it's not free, but very powerful and fairly easy.. bit ugly though.

As Thomas has said, the SSD could be failing. Explains why its temperamental. Sometimes theyll go a few months acting up then one day, they just wont work. Keep an eye on it mate!
