Youtube pop-up adverts on Safari

I'm pretty new to Apple/OSX, and I'm loving my new Retina MBP, however I've got a bit of a problem with YouTube videos.

I've installed Ad Block plus to try and remedy the pop-ups and ads that Youtube like to put on the site. Now on Chrome on my other laptop it works fine however on Safari it doesn't work properly and all videos embedded or on YouTube still show adverts even though I've got ABP running.

Is there any fixes to this or is it something I've just got to put up with?

I use the Adblock and Cleanr Youtube extensions and don't get any pop ups
