I currently use AG shampoo then AG SRP & usually finish off with the sealant but i want to buy the HD wax, is the AG cleanser necessary?

There are MUCH MUCH MUCH better products out there. But it will help the HD wax to bond, so if you have it already/are a Halfords shopper, go for it.

Give it a go mate, may find as said it helps the HD wax to bond. I've heard good things about the HD wax so if it complements it and aids it's longevity give it a try.
