first how do i get the squirters to work on them and then is it very important to keep them clean
Well the "squirters" as you call them, more commonly know as headlight washer jet will spray the lense when you wash your windscreen AND you have your headights on, providing you pull the windscreen wiper stalk back for more than a second or two.
As for.....

Well it depends whether you want to see where youre going in the dark or not! ;-)
