Wiper linkage fouling screen

Hi, new on here and only collected Cup on Friday. Drove it from hampshire to Cornwall on Friday and it rained a bit!! I though the wipers were a bit noisey but checking the mech is foukling the screen and has made a mark in the glass. Does anybody have any ideas?

It'll have been removed and not refitted right, there a dowel thingy it needs to locate on when refitting.

Ta, to keep it further away? Dowel at which end? sorry to keep asking?

If you get wipers themselves off (may take a bit of WD and a tool and persuasion) then get the plastics off, you'll see the whole linkage/motor etc is one unit held in by one bolt I think at the back of the scuttle theres a locating rubber bung dowel thing as mentioned above, check it's all sat correctly. If not, chances are one of the circlips have broken off, check the wiper spindles/linkage etc doesnt have play and you'll soon find the issue.

As for the scratched screen, not a lot to do but replace it if your OCD about the car. Linkage/motor unit should be easily obtained off here or ebay for £20 or so
