Which exhaust would you get?

  Meg 225
I'm coming to the point my original exhaust is almost falling of. Now my biggest problem is choosing a new exhaust depending on advice and youtube movies ! I'm from the Netherlands and i don't know anyone with a 172 to compare sound, build quality etc. The BIG problem is that i have to buy the exhaust without seeing/hearing it and let it post to the Netherlands. I was looking for a Yozza recessed or stealth, a BTB stealth or the stealth Supersprint from KAM racing. Now i want a cat back system that gives a nice sound, but NOT like a Group A rally car that you can hear me coming when i'm 10 miles away! But also not as quiet as the original exhaust, just something that gives a nice tone when cruising but makes heads turn when i give full throttle! I'm also a bit thinking wether i want the recessed look or the stealth look.
So does anyone have one of these systems? Got it with or without mid silencer? Maybe some vids??
I've spend the last week or so watching youtube and the search section here but still couldn't make my mind up on which of these systems!!
I had a Mongoose exhaust on my old Escort RS2000 with 2.3 engine, which gave a nice deep tone without droning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lreXU9Exbc
It's for a PH2 Flamer btw

Mid silencer: YES if you don't want an headache everytime you drive for more than 10 miles.
Do you plan to keep the stock cat?
I'd go for the Supersprint, top notch quality, I have one on my car, it's louder than the stock system but not too much, I'd say it matches your needs.

I have the Supersprint Stealth fitted to my car fitted with the mid silencer. Its certainly noticable you have a performance exhaust there. The bigger bore gives it a deeper tone when cruising but certainly no passengers complain its too loud, even the missus said it sounded good. Now when red lining it through quiet country roads people will be able to hear it about 1 1/2 miles away but quite frankly on that test drive I didnt care as I was driving 'purposefully'. 10 miles is excessive. You will only get hearing issues on a single box system.

I would go for a BTB stealth each and every time, it sounds perfect for what you are wanting from a system.

Although i cant comment on the supersprint, i have been in/driven clios with just about every other make of exhaust fitted and the BTB is the best imo, great tone to it, made exceptionally well the quality is second to none, they fit like a glove and give decent gains for an exhaust system, and keep the rear looking oem.

Ok thanks for the replies guys! So 2 votes for the supersprint with mid silencer. I'm planning to keep the cat on as i don't want to change it everytime i go on MOT, but yesterday i've seen the cat and it looked very rusty, whats the difference between à decat and à sport cat btw?

I have not been able to take any videos as my electrics have fried and i've mothballed the car for the winter. Once my weekends are free as the racing season ends I will borrow a friends car and get filming.
The decat is a straight through pipe, the sports cat is a straight through design with less cells than a standard cat. It flows better but is not as efficient. Sports cats have 200 cells, race cats have 100

I'm uploading a video of the Supersprint right now.
I passed the Italian version of the MOT a year ago with a sports cat.

Not quiet either lol Sounds great though. Certainly I like something a little more civilised for daily road use.

That's a yozza 2.5" race with 200 cell cat and 182 manifold. It's my (stripped) daily and it's fuckin' awesome.

still have my mind fiddling between a supersprint cat back with mid silencer or the yozza stealth with mid silencer cat back, think the BTB sounds just a little bit too much like OEM what i can tell from vids i've seen

Well as i heard so much good things on here about the Yozza, i think i'll contact Fred and order the Yozza stealth cat back system if Fred will send it abroad!

Its a shame more people aren't going for the ss stealth as it looks to be very good, but owning a yozza myself (ss 182 system is just too expensive) you can't blame people for going with what they know.

I agree, the 182 system is a bit too expensive but the stealth has a very competitive price.

Great choice Paul! Let me know how do you find the exhaust, and if you have a few pictures I'll be happy to publish it on the official Supersprint website.
