Whats the deal with the new tax

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
Just curious what the emmisions brackets are.

I read that cars after 2003 say will be charged more for tax.So buying a 2002 172 will be cheaper than a 172 on a 53 plate even though there the same cars

Is this true and if so whats the limits for output in c02 for the 172 and 182's please ,and of course what will you be paying???

Thankyou

This seems like a common thing in the country now:

Work hard -> get fucked
Buy a nice car -> get fucked
Do nothing with your life -> get everything you ever wanted

But back on topic, this is designed to get people out of cars and onto public transport. Only problem is that public transport is still rubbish and iirc Virgin have increaed fares to reduce over crowding, in addition fares into London have gone up across the board but carriages have been removed. What are we meant to do when all people want is our money?!

so an old audi 2.8 is going to be £200, which has more emissions
ans an new audi 2.8 is quattro is going to be £400, which has lower emissions

yep the new tax applys to cars registered form 2001 onwards, the search aboves shows only the cars upto 1999, where at that point it was engine size only, where some on in a 1.5 derv pays the same a someone in a 6 litre V10.
now cars i think 51 ( not sure if y's are counted) plate and above are now emmissons based.

Ditto.

In ten years Britain will be completely overcrowded with millions of illegal immigrants and EU asylum seekers from Poland. Crime will be at an uncontrollable level and all the successful and decent people would have moved abroad.

You think we've got it bad... for Porsche 911 owners it goes from £400 to £950.

I'm sure my Mum will love this (she drives a Carrera 4S).

If you take two identical cars, one does 5,000 miles a year and the other does 35,000 miles, they both pay the same tax. That doesnt seem right.

This is because the costing to police a system that could monitor the mileage we do throught the year would be ridiculous and just cost us more in tax elsewhere

There are some fcukin numptys on here . Britain won't be overcrowded with illegal immigrants , it will be overcrowded with legal immigrants and their offspring . EU Asylum seekers from Poland ? Are you thick as sh1t or what ? They aren't asylum seekers you :clown: , they are here quite legally as are 10's of thousands of Brits dotted around the world also quite legally ;)

As for crime being at an uncontrollable level , i think we are already at that level now imo .

So my road tax is due for renewal in 3 months.

Can I pay this years rate and get 12 months then to save a bit of money ? Rather than paying 6 months at this years rate then paying for 6 months at nexts years rate when its due again in 2009 ?

You pay whatever the rate is for this year , £210 , up til the end of 2008.

Course you can.

If you buy tax on or after 1st March 2009 you'll have to pay the new charges, before then it'll be the current charge.

Had to laugh going to my local train station...instead of the government trying to encourage lower prices for public transport, they have increased them. How do they justify the higher prices? Perhaps faster or more regular trains, more seats maybe? Of course not! All they have done is spend more on the station itself...made a nice little cafe in there, oh less parking spaces out the front (I think all those that are there now are for disabled people, just how many disabled people are they expecting to turn up all at once?!?) and a slightly larger area for the busses to come in...

To top it all off, the ticket machine dispensed my £7.50 worth of change ENTIRELY in 10ps and 5ps...so I had to queue up for a good ten minutes while the jobsworth counted out all the coins, delaying me and the queue behind me was going mad.

I have just taxed mine yesterday and it was £205 for the year

Its a feckin joke really , the motorist punished yet again .

Fuel ,Insurance , road tax , all a feckin ripp off

the last 3 years ive taxed my ren 5 gtt and only driven it 1500 miles if that , and the trophy has just over 12k , two road taxes and i can only drive 1 car at a time.

the roads where i live are a discrace spend most of the time trying to avoid the holes and bunkers which can be pretty hard at times. its not cars that wreck the roads its all the feckin busues and trucks .

why cant they just put the road tax on the fuel ,that way its pay as you go.
