What have you done to your car today ???

Got the worst b*****d bolt out from the exhaust shield under the car. Was determined not to let the f**ker beat me lol. Why Renault used torx here and not hex bolts with a washer baffles me, oh hang on...of course...cost!

Mine were a sod too. I share your hatred for them.

Dragged this out of the garage -

Got to prep it for an MOT . Air bag light is on , exhaust hanger at back is Fooked and the rear bearings are shot .
So not much to keep me busy .

And these turned up

Working under car and this dropped out, given the amount of cowboy sh*t I'm discovering done by past owners, I hope this wasn't doing something important ...lol !!

I haven't done anything! Birchdown did all the work! New belts, depahser, tensioners, pullies, oils, filters and plugs. Well worth it as my car feels a million times better as a result! Best part of it all, they stopped my exhaust looking like this:

and made it look like this! :p

Got the parts my self and these guys did the work.

Carparts4less: oils, air filter, cabin filter, oil filter and spark plugs. £53.60
Renault Wolverhampton: Both belt kits and all relevant bits and bobs. £181.30
rentec eBay: Dephaser pulley £114.00
Birchdown: labour rates, a few consumables and little bits missing, road test and full inspection (and exhaust remounting) £266.30

total: £615.20 (£513.30 for the belts work with Dephaser pully, £101.90 for the service!)

spread that over nearly 3 months of buying parts when I could get them and putting something to one side to pay beichdown. It's not hit me too hard and it's really worth the effort in my eyes.

That is really fantastic! Thanks for breaking that down for me dude as it's something I'll be looking to be having done as soon as pay day comes next month. Not sure how far away from Leeds they are though.

Not sure how far away from Leeds they are though.

Birchdown just under an hour from Manchester going away from Leeds, so around the 2 hour mark I'd say..?

New Brembo HC's and ds2500's fitted with a good old clean and kurust of the front callipers and hubs, lumbar support fixed and a wee bit of underseal added. Well done me.

Leeds will be far! It's around 35-40 mins from Chester, and I know Chester is a good hour or so away from Leeds, I have family and friends there. Will be around 2 hours there another 2 hours back again for you.

Their good mind you so would be worth the drive if there are no other recommended specialists up your way.

Jack

ps it's just outside a place called Malpas (Oldcastle Heath) it's not the easiest place to find if you don't know what your looking for!

Ap tyres Rotherham buddy. A little more expensive then the place at Bradford (cas coatings iirc) But it's ten min down road from me they put you a set of steels on so your not without car remove and refit tyres as well. They cost £240 inc vat. Like I said was just idiot who put wheels back on hit rims with impact gun after being told to be extra careful. Didn't notice till a couple of days after when I put my badges on. Rang them up and straight away said will re do them no fuss and at my leisure. Even said if you want to leave them on 6 months then come back lol. Service like that is worth paying a little more as opposed to being told you must have done it or not our problem etc.

Moved the top gearbox mount forward again. White knuckle tight this time. It's gainst my nature to white knuckle bolts that size but needs must.

Over a couple of days did a little paint job. Removed fuel rail guard and inlet manifold. Rubbed the lettering down, masked off and sprayed with halfords hi temp paint. Several costs then back together and another little sand of the letters. I was going to paint the letters but thought it was easier and looked better to the metal.

Yep rack bushes are horrible and my shoulders are bruised from my rough drive.

How difficult is the auxiliary belt to change Damon65?
