What exhaust system should I buy?

  '05 Renault Clio 182
Hi guys,

I'm new to owning a 182 and either due to a dodgy salesman or my inability to properly check a car over before buying it, the exhaust has completely failed. One month after purchase. I'm in a position now where my local garages won't touch the car due to it being an after-market exhaust unless of course I buy a new full exhaust system and get it fitted.

So here I am, asking for suggestions on what I should buy. I'm not going to lie, I'm happy to compromise on performance slightly if the price is right but due to my knowledge being pretty much non-existent on the subject, I was hoping somebody here would point me in the right direction.

I've got a 2005 Clio 182. The exhaust I believe was a Scorpion brand and the issue is that the exhaust has snapped in two places, the cat and the front pipe. I live in Oxfordshire so if anyone knows of a specialist that would be great. Any help would be much appreciated.

It depends on your budget and wether you want it quite or a bit of noise. As an example I have a silenced with decat system which isn't too loud atall. I am looking to remove the silencer as chav. My only advice is don't bother with a standard one, they look crap and just don't last

Yeah I would prefer a silenced system but I'm not fussy in reality. I have no idea how much a full system would cost or where to find one, but I'm looking for a total spend of <£800

For a start, £800 on an exhaust, you really don't need to be doing that mate. The only thing is to get a custom exhaust made, tailored to how you want it too sound. About £400-500 maximum.

You could sign up to be a member, that way you have access to the whole forum, sale adverts, wanted section etc. Assuming you will be keeping the car? It will be the best 12 or whatever it is now that you will spend.

I meant including labour. £800 is the absolute maximum I want to spend. Do you know of any sites that specialise in 182 exhaust systems?

Becoming a member is a good idea tbh, £12 is not bad at all. I just might do that.

I paid £450 for my custom exhaust, including fitting, from Infinity Exhaust, based next to Junction 18 of M4 (may be a little more for a 182 with the twin exit). I got everything except the manifold made, including decat and centre silencer. Made in about 3 hours while I waited. Not too far from Banbury to drive down in the day and get it done. They gave me every option possible with an exhaust....noise, how loud it was, exhaust tip......I was very happy with their service and knowledge. The stuff they have had in there has been pretty special and varied, so they know their stuff.

Also second the membership....mine has paid for itself using the discount at GSF many times

That might be all you need.

I have an almost new Scorpion RS192 exhaust WITH the new fixed mid section. The new mid section has a flexi joint and an extra hanger so wont fail again. I took the RS192 exhaust off at the weekend and is in pretty much perfect condition. I live 20 minutes from you too in Oxford. Message me if you want it.

Someone else from Banbury, welcome!

As for the exhaust, have you tried RS Fabrications? Not cheap, but very good quality.
