Would a Sonos speaker not be an option? Especially if your budget is that high. Gives you the option to then expand in the future?

I got the Bose Soundlink III which is very boomy and loud. I find it too boomy personally but still enjoy it.

The problem with Sonos is they need to be connected to Wifi. So if it's staying at home, that's no issue, if he wants to take it out and about it's useless, unfortunately.

As a portable alternative to my Sonos speakers, I have a Beats Pill. Probably (definitely) better quality speakers out there, but it does the job, and it's a big brand, which kids (possibly) love.

£10 bluetooth speaker from Amazon, the Vengaboys for the boom boom and £290 to spend in Hooters like any 14 year old boy really wants.

I've just got an Anker speaker for £30 from Amazon.. it does the job well for garden music and background music in the house.. it wonder blow anyones socks off but surely the other £270 can be spent on other items?

Is it your 14 year old that does the archery? Is there not something for that which he needs/ wants?

I've got a bose soundlink mini II, it goes pretty much everywhere with me. Battery life is excellent and it is pretty punchy. I've found the surface it's on and size of the room can really change how it sounds. Doesn't even seem to struggle throwing sound to a reasonable level outdoors, useful in the garden given the current nice weather

You can also get nice silicone cases for them, if you think it may get a bit of a hard life... downside is the annoying American accent it has!

The JBL charge speakers are pretty good, get plenty of noise out of them and I think the newest models are waterproof.

A set of good headphones, so not everyone within 400yds needs to be put through listening to the UK Trap scene.

I've just bought this to take on holiday (was £20 on prime day), very surprised how good it is and not fussed if it gets broken. Probably wouldn't want it as a permanent solution though, although my 14 year already has her eyes on it!

Was very impressed with this, great sound and very portable. Good battery I believe too.

So just thought I'd update this thread, this morning I took my son out shopping and ended up buying him the Bose Soundlink Revolve +.

He's happy with it which all that matters, we did look at the Sonos stuff but he would have to be connected to the Wi-Fi at home and he wouldn't be able to play he's YouTube play list through it so that was a no go.
