Hi all. I'm after some advice. Although I do own a mk 4 RS I also own a mk1 clio and this is the one I need help with. I'm hoping some of the older guys might have some memory of or experience on these EJ7 engines.
Basically the engine developed a weird noise and was losing coolant. So my first thought was water pump, which I have replaced along with the timing belt and tensioner. This resolved the water issue as the gasket had failed but the sound is still there at idle and when driving. I've disconnected the alternator belt and the p/s pump belt to see if the noise followed but unfortunately it stayed. The only other pulley is the crank pulley but there's absolutely no play and in good condition. Anyone with better ears than me who can point me in a new direction to look would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Great forum by the way, I've been looking though and some great info on here
