water and oil pump

Anyone know where abouts these are on a 172?

Oil pump is in the sump, water pump is at the cam belt end of the engine and is the big pulley situated next to the main crank pulley

Cheers Nick! Can the water pump make a ticking/tapping sound? Im not sure that noise is the tappets now. cheers

Sounds like it could be a bearing worn thats making the noise. All of the rotating accesories driven by the belts (inc tensioners) have bearings in them, could be any of them. Need to hear it to be sure which it could be.
