Volvo turbo into a 16v

  renault clio 1.8 16v
Right guys,

Im thinking of either putting a volvo 1.8 8valve turbo engine into my 16v OR a williams engine.

Anyone any experience on these volvo conversions?

There was a mint willy engine on ebay this week but he's taken it off! Been waiting for one for ages but because they are like rocking horse sh*t i might possibly go down the more readily available volvo turbo route.

What do you guys think, volvo or willy?

Throttle bodies or a bb tuning turbo conversion are just too expensive.

What do we reckon on reliability on a volvo turbo conversion?

What sort of bhp would be a sensible, RELIABLE and obtainable with this volvo conversion?

I mean, im presuming you could almost match bb tuning conversion power for a quarter of the price!? Around 220bhp?

At the end of the day would I have a really quick car with this conversion?

Cheers
Leigh

I think you definatly need a stand along ECU to get decient power (so £500 on that excluding mapping) then you need a bigger turbo as stock isn't desinged for that then you need bigger injectors.

A broperly rebuilt 2.0 with cams is a very quick car.

Volvo engine compared to the others is naff imho, stick with a tuned valver/willy lump.

If you had a 1.2/1.4 could be a different answer, but you don't :)
