Vehicle Identification Plate on 172 mkII

Hi,

Im new to the balls out fun of 172 driving. Ive just bought a 2001 mkII in Iceburg Silver and absolutely immaculate condition - nice.

When buying it I paid for an HPI check whoich came up fine, checked all numbers on body parts etc. but cant find the VIN number under the bonnet, can anyone tell me where to find this?
