Urgent help/advice needed please!

Right,

Was driving home from work yesterday and noticed a whurring/rubbing noise coming from the drivers side wheel arch area. The noise is worse when taking corners and i have also noticed the noise when stationery if i turn the wheel slightly.

Now i've had a look underneath the car today and noticed a small oil leak im thinking maybe gearbox oil? I then removed the plastic cover underneath the engine to inspect the driveshafts but they are fine no leaks coming from them.

However i noticed this, to me it looks like the oil is leaking from this rubber sleeve on the gear linkage can anyone advise me what this is and is it likely that the leak and noise is caused by this part failing?

Looks like it is leaking at the selector, common fault i believe and cant really be fixed without gearbox apart (i think, someone with more knowledge will confirm)

My one is doing this just now, i just keep an eye on it and top up when it needs it!

leakage is common there. check gearbox oil level is ok. could be the pas making noises especially when turning wheels stationary. check pas oil level.
