uprated cams

  Evo 5 RS
yeah they give it more of an edge on second cam especially with throttle bodies, it shows quite clearly in the graphs too. Not the best combination of mods for sure

Out of interest, is yours flat till about 4.5k then when it comes on cam kicks in with the power?

422's with ITB's FTW. more power and torque than standard from idle, never flat always pulls from 1500rpm.

IMO either go the whole hog charged/turbo/itbs or spend the money on something else than the engine, wish i had lol ! (could have traded mine in and got a 5 yr old R34 GTR with the money i've ploughed into my clio)

hindsight is a beautiful thing mate lol. Don't regret it personally though

Minefield.

If you are sticking with standard management you need to budget for at least £1700.00 upwards all in for a good quality set, fitted, mapped etc (it's effectively a full cambelt service + the cams themselves + proper mapping).

There are some questionable quality regrind type cams floating about that you can save some cash on. Don't expect more than 155ft/lbs 185bhp.
1700?
680 for the 428's an another 100 to fastchip for a custom map (if you already have the rs tuner) why more than that? 421 yes you may need stand alone but many run 428 on std ecu custom mapped.
or get some custom dyno mapping for 3-400 and still you reach 1000-1100 for 428's fitted properly. correct me if I'm missing smth

  172 exclusive
running standard inlet manifold,182 downpipe ,custom sports cat, magnex 172 cat back exhaust oh and shrick cams ,standard ecu and remap by henk

*Early testing has shown 206bhp?* Early testing of what? - certainly not a car

Never buy from a bull shi**er (imo)

It's is bullshit. They have good reviews and cars have pulled 190 bhp with them in ...

I'm going to have to get some of these wonderful cams as i only run 212bhp with 422's, high comp, ITB's. Either that or go on their RR to see if they can get 250bhp out of my current setup?

Camshaft Duration is increased over standard; Inlet Duration is 286 Degrees and Exhaust is 280 Degrees. that's wilder than my 422's and last time i checked the standard ecu can't cope with 422's - hence why i have ITB's

I love it when so called engine tuners or specialists quote figures, because they are talking out of their behinds! An engine makes what it makes, mine "could" make 230-235, but it doesn't (except on GDI's rollers ;) ), however it isn't slow in 'real life'.

Just checked it was 217 not 212

FWIW gents, we have a 172 here in Australia with 421's and a 197 head on it mapped on the standard ECU... I think you'd be surprised what can be done.

To be honest, I have no idea what power that particular vehicle is putting out. Unfortunately we don't have many modded Clio's down here... too damn expensive to get the parts over and tune it.

I know there's one recently ITB'd car running the K-Tec kit that pulled an apparent 180.1hp @ the wheels. Just reading the thread, someone mentions there's another ITB'd Clio with 'mild' cams that did ~190hp @ the wheels. Happy dyno's me thinks...

That being said - most 172's seem to pull between 100-105kW at the front wheels and 182's 105-110kW.

what is it they say, and my arse is made of gold? Or in this case 95 carrot gold encrusted love nuts.

Not sure where the logic is in fabricating figures like certain companies used to (and still do). You only end up pissing people off! I'll be disappointed now when mine doens't make a guesstimate 220hp at the fly lol

Mine put 100.1 KW at the wheels, and that is at 2200 meters above the sea level, that is about 131 hps, at sea level and discounting the loss that is about 160 at the wheels, although I have cams. that should be ~190 which seems to be the average for a car with cams. I am running engine dynamics cams, and yes, they are as wild as you can go, my idle is crap but pulls very well from 2k onwards and really shifts from 5k on.

It sounds like your cam timing is out, seen a standard 172 pull figures like that and iirc his timing was out

Huhhh!!!! Did you read it puts out that at 2200 meters above sea level?????????? Nothing wrong with my car, actually pretty solid numbers.
