Turbo recommendations for 280-300bhp

  HBT 172 Cup
My T28 is troopering along at ~310bhp approx 1.1bar, cheap turbos you can pick them up for £200. Although imo i do find it a little bit laggy strangley, it doesnt really get into its stride until 3800-4000rpm.

Expensive option would be a GT2860RS ~ £800, probably a better spool up will flow better. Though if i had a forged block id be looking to utilise it with a GT2871R for upto 400bhp ish.

T28 is a very vague term, all depends on the trim and size of the wheels etc.

Are you looking to buy new or secondhand?

If you have the budget for a new one, go for a GT2860 IMHO

Be careful though with what you ask for as that is a very vague description still, id go for the 62 trim inlet wheel (47ind and 60exd) and then personally I would go for the .86 A/R exhaust housing, and sacrifice a bit of spool for reduced EGT, but you could use the 64 trim variant if spooling quickly is your main concern.

Let me know if you need putting in touch with a decent supplier.

Its vital to know what you are talking about when ordering a turbo.
Saying "t28" or "gt2860" is like saying "ford escort", without the specific details you dont know if its a 1.4 popular or a cosworth.

What spec are the turbos? wheel size and trim etc?

Thanks chip - I'll have a read of that and I'll almost certainly be taking you up on your offer of help around suppliers.

In future I won't say 'forged block' either :p

Thanks for all your suggestions guys

Shame there isnt a forged block available for the F4R, would be epic especially if a bit taller than standard so I could correct my terrible rod ratio!

I'm running a gt2871 replica, it starts spooling up at around 3k and by 4k is flying, I could get hold of one for you if you wanted

I dont ever send anyone anywhere else for turbo stuff these days TBH mate, CR always come out on top with everything Ive dealt with so I literally dont bother phoning around anywhere else now.

They've done me a nice billet wheel upgrade on my turbo when I got it rebuilt too :)
